Hey guys, I am a recent 5.0 convert, just bought a 99 SS M6. I had a pretty built NHRA caged chassis 88 convertible mustang with a stock long block 5.0 with bolt on's that would bitch slap most F-bodies. Stupid little 131,000 mile bolt on 5.0, made 178hp through to the rear wheels. However, when you got the right tune and setup, and when you hit it with a 2 stage it would flat out haul the mail. However, it needed the 2 stage or I was dead in the water...............

This was my Mustang, and I already love my SS more.
Oh the 1994 conversion looks good........just not enough to buy.

i think people say corvette engine because thats all they know about it.
Its a known fact to f-body owners that the V8s are passed down corvette engines, but this guy probably thinks that someone who doesnt really know their stuff will go: "OMFG!!! VETTE ENGINE IN A SLICK LOOKING CAR."
...or something like that

I honestly think people say Corvette Engine because most non-car people won't understand that the engine is a good engine unless you tell them that. Most probably think that each car has its own engine. I met a "Firehawk enthusiast" who swore up and down that the Pontiac LS1s were different than the Chevy LS1s, and that the Pontiac LS1s made more power, then proceeded to inform me that he wanted to slap me for not swapping in the stock V8 suspension when I did my LS1 swap... As my car sat right next to us, slammed, on coilovers...
