Default Gas gauge has a mind of it own???? Help

I believe my sending unit is going out in my fuel pump. Everytime I turn the car on it will read different every time. In order to change that I would have to drop my gas tank I believe and replace the whole fuel pump?

Yes you would. The sending unit is part of the assembly. It could be the fuel level sensor though too. But that is also part of the assembly.

You don't have to drop the tank u can cut a trap door to access it in the rear of the car there's lots of threads on it it's soooooooo much easier

Racetronix. They even sell the sending unit. It's a direct drop in. It's a walbro in a machined housing with everything you need to get running.

This is why I originally said to drop the tank. Just depends on how much you love your car I guess. You can do a search on fuel pump replacement and should find the writeup on cutting a hole if you choose that route. I did do that with my last car though and will admit it is a LOT easier

I love my car plenty, and I did the trap door. It's not our fault GM cheaped out and didn't design something that only makes sense. If a 20 something college-girl oriented Ford Escape can have a fuel pump trap door, so can one of America's road ruling legends.
