Northwest Members - Finally out of the garage

I'm not on here as much as I used to be. I am trying very hard to keep my TBSS stock or close to it. But I am starting to collect LS parts for my 73 firebird. For now I threw a 400 in it with some headers, Hotchkis suspension, 4th gen TA seats, updated brakes etc etc. Hood has been in paint shop hell but maybe done someday. Got it out of the garage today getting ready to take it to the exhaust shop for the Pypes Race Pro system.

Have a GTO T56 that I may throw in it but the conversion parts to the pontiac motor aren't cheap. People say that working on the old cars is easier...there is a simplicity to it but I'd think I'd rather wrench on a 4th gen...

That's bad ass. The paint shop that just finished my Bird had this same car up there but all custom with a nice royal blue paint color. I love old muscle. Look forward to see how it turns out. Good luck!

Thanks guys. It still has a long way to go, I'm trying to make it a decent driver for now while I get the engine\transmission\rear ready.

Next project will be some aftermarket power windows and door panels. I also need to do the passkey push button start my Flaming river column doesn't have the ignition on it. If I can get that done by the end of summer I'd be good.

Curious what is involved with the T56 adaption to the old Pontiac blocks. My dad has a 68 GTO that we are going to start restoring eventually and he would like to throw in one of the modern 6 speeds for the long cruising gear but have had problems finding information on what needs to be done.

Custom Touch. Two brothers own it (26 years now...same location) great paint shop. They did a awesome job and payed attention to every detail. Lifetime warrenty. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

If he has a bunch of money American Drivetrain has complete kits. If he is broke like me QTP makes a bellhousing, Speedtech makes a crossmember for birds he may have to fab one up on the GTO but its not hard.

Use Hydraulics and shorten the driveshaft and your good to go with an LS1 tranny. The Viper and LT1 have to be modified.

Hurst driveline solutions makes a setup now for BOP using the manual clutch fork as well.

That should get you started :) I added everything up and it was around 1400-2000 not counting the new gears needed in the rear.

Awesome thanks a bunch for the info! Found the American Drivetrain iirc but it seemed like it was all five speeds they were adapting, nothing on the T56.

They have a t56 setup...from the pedals to the driveshaft. I think the quote I git was like 3500 without the tranny.
