Your best bet is blackbird lighting solutions (BLS). You won't be disappointed, do a quick search and you'll see

But you did forget to mention whether it was for a bird or camaro. I have a bad tendency to always assume camaro.

Since the conversation started here:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...l-halos-3.html
I'm guessing its for a Camaro.

I haven't seen anyone sell retrofitted housings. You can get Morimoto Mini H1 HID projectors from The Retrofit Source for $300 with bulbs, ballasts, and shrouds (or half that for the bare projectors) and mount them into the stock housing..

They are an easy drop-in since they mount through the original bulb hole with minimal modification. Basically, open the headlight, remove the OEM bulb shield, slide the projector through the bulb hole from the front (minor trimming if needed), secure the lock nut on the back, snap on the included shroud, and re-seal the headlights.

Watch the time-lapse video in this thread for an example:
http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...-Mini-retrofit

If you are wondering about them using H1... its actually an HID projector designed around using an H1 HID kit. These are Not Halogen projectors. There is a D2S version as well (D2S is a normal HID bulb), but i think it only fits in bulb holes harder than the 9005/9006.

I've seen these installed in various housings. They look great and perform well. Almost as well as the FX & FX-R projectors, but they are smaller and easier to mount. I don't think I've seen them installed in a 9005/9006 housings yet and I definitely haven't seen them installed in a Camaro housing yet. I think they'll fit the depth and width, but I don't know about fitting through the bulb hole. Maybe they weill. I don't know. I did see a listing for a 9005/9006 version so they may fit.

Check out the forums at HID Planet for various installs using various projectors and many threads using these projectors specifically.

You can also get a set of aftermarket housings with removable projectors and replace the existing Halogen projector with a better HID projector. Check out the Lighting FAQ for examples of that and other more-custom installs of HID projectors in the stock Camaro headlight housings.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/7014483-post4.html

Here are two applicable examples from the Lighting FAQ:

ec_nova's setup using FX-R projectors inside the stock housings:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...-progress.html

ClownVomit's setup using ebay projector housings with the projectors replaced with Valeo D2S HID projectors from a B5 A4/S4 Audi:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...ctor-swap.html

There are other great projector options such as the FX / FX-R and RX330, but you'll have to do more cutting and custom fitting to get them installed properly. The FX / FX-R & RX330 will give you a little better output than the Morimoto Mini, but the Morimoto Mini is much easier to install into an existing Reflector housing.

Yes. Noticeably.

They fit through a 9006 hole, but not through 9005. 9005 has a smaller hole.

On the headlights (not Camaro) that I put them in, I had to trim some of the plastic for the 9006 hole as well because the hole is rather deep. The base of the projector didn't stick out enough for the collar to screw onto. Also, if you mount just that way, there is a possibility of the projector rotating. I'm planning on using a little poxy/JBweld or something around the very base of the projector to help make sure it won't rotate. Probably overkill I suppose, but I want to be sure.

And as mentioned, yes the output is better than the Sonars. Much better, in fact. That, and the Morimoto mini H1 projectors are also bi-xenon.

9006 is the low beam bulb on the 1998-2002 Camaro so this is a possibility that the Morimoto Mini may work in the 1998-2002 Camaro housing.

The morimotos are the best bang for buck period. These are some amazing little projectors that imo exceed most of the OEM projectors.

They should with a little trimming. The 9006 hole is the right diameter, but deep. Just have to trim it down from the back part so there is enough threading to screw in the collar that holds the projector in place.

I've made projectors on my car, but STILL have not made a writeup or even posted about them after 8 months. I've never taken good pictures of the lights to justify posting on LS1Tech

Custom made by yours truly.

And this pic is way too close to really judge it's quality cutoff

Depends on what parts you want. Take a look at The Retrofit Source. Before buying anything, read through threads on HID Planet about HID retrofits (including retrofits using the projectors mentioned above and others).

Short answer:

Read and research. A lot. Don't expect anyone to tell you exactly what to get or do because it doesn't work that way.

Then, do the retrofit.

It's the only way, really.
