Default Stock Rear with Wider Tires

Guys, I think I am going to get ZR1 style wheels for a staggered setup, 275/40/17 in front and then 315/35/17 in back, but I am on the stock 10 bolt with 2.73's through an A4 transmission. There are some noises/whines occasionally, not sure if its coming from the center of the diff or if it could be wheel bearings or if its just road whine maybe, but would jumping from 245's to 315's seriously increase the chances of breaking the rear end?

I lightly launch the car sometimes (stock stall to about 1000-1200 rpm) or just lay into the gas off the brake. It wouldn't be seeing the strip. The stickiest tire I would be putting on the back would be Nitto 555R radials.

I plan on getting a 9" eventually but not anytime soon. I planned on doing lid, headers, y-pipe, intake manifold, throttle body, lower control arms, torque converter (3000-36000), and tranny cooler before I built the trans or got a new rear.
