Koni Yellow for 98 SS
Well, I finally purchased Koni 8241-1139 & 1140 Sports after reading several posts about their handling characteristics and they are installed with 1LE springs 360 Lbs/In and 130/180Lbs/In., (stock 32 MM front sway bar and 19 MM rear). I have the rear’s set at full soft and the front 3.5 sweeps from full soft. This current set up seems to give me very good handling while not compromising the ride on surface streets. I started at 4 sweeps from full soft (the shocks only have 8 sweeps, not 12 as on Koni’s site) and that was too stiff for me. I then backed them off 1 sweep and drove it before going back one more sweep. I can’t believe the difference in the handling when compared to the stock Decarbons. This combined with the new Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires have completely changed the ride for the better.

The Decarbons were always junk, but yours were probably worn since these cars are nowhere near new anymore, so I'm sure the swap was indeed a huge upgrade. Koni tries to make the softest setting on their sport shocks comparable to the stock setup of the car, and the stiffest about twice as stiff. I went with Tokico HPs on my Camaro and they were pretty good. I went with Koni for my G8 and I agree with you - Koni is GREAT.

Yes, it is. It's about 4000 Lbs. I have them set to 75% stiff (1.5 out of 2 turns) on stock springs (shocks are more important than springs and I couldn't afford to do everything). I might change them to half-way though. I only have them up front so far, though. Rears are still stock for now. Stock shocks in the G8 are Monroe and they are not great, but they beat the crap out of the DeCarbons the 4th-gen F-bodies came with.
