LT1 383 Tuning Requirements???
I have a fresh 383 LT1 we just stuffed back in my 94 z28. Here’s a quick rundown of my parts list:
• Forged eagle rotating assembly w/ 11.5:1 compression
• LE2 port work on stock heads
• Comp XFi292 Cam w/ 1.6:1 ration roller rockers
• 58mm throttle body w/ LT4 port work to the stock intake manifold
• 42lb SVT Ford injectors w/ my FP set to 40psi
How much tuning is needed before I can start driving the car? I’ve had the fuel mapping professionally set in speed density mode using FreeScan & Wide-Band Air/Fuel ratio tool in the header. The car fires right up, and idles on its own at 900 to 1,000rpm’s & seems to have excellent throttle response….under no load.
Dyno tuning is expensive and if I don’t need to do it right now, I’d love to wait till this winter. From a precautious side, I’m not sure if it is safe to drive. Last thing I want to do is tear up a new motor.
