Keep mac mid length or go ebay long tube.
Im in the process of building the cheapest 11 sec ls1 f body camaro. I just picked up mac mid length headers with catted y pipe for $150. Should i keep these, delete the cats, and port the primaries or Should i sell them and get some of those oh so tempting ebay long tubes.
Only thing on car is slp lm1 cat back($150), parts that i have waiting to go in Ported 5.3 heads with double valve springs($300), K&N FIPK ($100), headers($150), HPtuners($350 but also using on my other project), 3.73 gear and install kit($110) and 2000 z28 with 180k ($820)
With all those parts im still under $2000 which im very happy about, This is just my summer daily, im building a 67 nova wagon with BUILT 6.0. So the less money in this build the better.
Still want to get cam and stall.
So with all that in mind, What do you all think?

alright well cheap and 11 second probably wont be together lol...but even ebay long tubes would be better than mids, get a custom x from an exhaust shop, should be $200-$300? IF you had the money you should get 1-7/8" headers
also a 2000 z28 with 180k miles?...whats wrong with it lol?
and i would get a mail order tune from frost.
also a 3600 stall will be necessary...same with a cam...and a real dyno tune after that.
good luck with your build.

Yea i was thinking about some n20 but i think ill get 11's with the nice heads i got for it matched with a decent cam. Ill sell these mid length macs and get some long tubes, prolly something used off craigslist or here. Thanks for all the input

are the mac headers in good condition? i got mine from a member on here and they had small holes rusted in both collectors and the cats were bad too. i ended up getting rid of them. they made decent power though.
i've seen where the ebay headers primaries are small - 1 5/8 where you want at least 1 3/4. 1 7/8 seems to be preferred for heads/cam.

I was gonna say, my buddy tried out the eBay headers and they went in no problem. I even helped him install them and they were easier than a set of pacesetters I had done on my car awhile back. I guess it's hit or miss.

If you're looking to save money and only looking for 11's just use the Mac's. My car trapped 118 and change with Mac's and an open plate Borla catback, then with QTP's and open dual cut outs trapped 119, and lost some ground clearance.
