Default New to the LSx from LTx need help with my LQ4

Alright, I bought a vette that had a bad shortblock in it at one hell of a price. I then found a very low mile 04 LQ4. my goal is to reach about 410 to 420 rwhp with factory heads. the engine will have longtubes, blackwing cai, ls6 intake and a cat back. I will install a ported tb if nessicary. Tjen I plan on adding a 150 shot. here are my questions...(car is a m6)

1. Should I do the katech rod bolts for that power level or will the stockers be fine even with the nitrous. I plan on keeping the rpms 6500 or less.

2. given that a very mild cam will get me to my n/a goal should I have the rocker bearings upgraded or are the LQ4 sufficient?

3. from everything i have read and searched, the LQ4 should be able to handle this power level easily, but what do you think?

4. now that you know my goal with stock 317s what cam do you reccommend? this car will be a dd for a short while.....

1. Stockers would be fine for NA, but considering the N20 in the future the Katechs would be good added security.

2. You may need more cam then you think because the LQ4 is a lower compression engine. You are gaining cubes but losing compression. I would do the comp bearings in the rockers because I like the piece of mind.

3. I like the reliability on NA, but on the N20 the tune better be perfect and running all the fail-safes to keep the engine alive (proper timing retard, window switch, etc.)

4. I think you should pull the heads and have them at least milled down to up compression and then switch to an MLS style gasket. I would be looking for a cam in the low 230s for your needs.

thanks for the fast response. I read somewhere that someone done full bolt ons and a ls6 cam and springs and made the 400rwhp mark. but that is why I dont believe everything I read.

Best option for power goals would just have a cam specd or the torquer v2 or 3 will get you there going to have to change springs and push rods and run some lt hedders for either choice

I have a 01 LQ4 shortblock. 67K on it. stock 243 LS2 heads with springs, ls6 intake, stock truck TB, stock truck MAF, stock 28lbs ls1 injectors, and a trickflow 228/230 585/585 112 cam with longtubes and 2.5 collectors and put down 414rwhp through a 4L60E with a 2600 9.5 Edge converter. And this was on the first tune with 22* total timing!!. More tuning to go.
