just need a couple opinions cause i guess im down to choosing between the SSRA and the FTRA, need a few inputs on which would do be better

if price is a factor.. Fast Toys ram air is a good buy, but it has its disadvantages.. for example I hear your car might run a lil hotter in city driving?

The super sucker doesn't interfere with the radiator part, so cooling wont be an issue.

SSRA has the least effect on making the car run hotter. Reasons...its plastic and angles away from the radiator/condensor unlike all the others. Dont let anyone tell you that having a CAI kit will not make your car run hotter because "YES" it will unless you run a CAI kit like I do with the ac deleted. If anyone says it dosent then thats because they are not monitoring their real temps from the computer.
I also believe SSRA will get the most airflow because it ducts under the bumper.
Iv had 2 SSRA on my last 2 ls1s and I wouldnt want any other one.
I choose to run my smaller SSRA without ac and its absolutely perfect.
Iv had excellent track results with mine.

ok well good to read...thanks for the info.....not sure what ill do im at a split decision so ill prolly just close my eyes and click purchse lol what lid did you go with on yours....i heard the slp lid supposedly works and fits really well

slp, from what i hear, has had fitment issues.. which is why i dont rock one

I had a whisper lid.. but i didn't like how it looked so i got a g2, and i have no fitment issues with that one

I'd prob go with the SSRA for the reasons Senicalj stated.

I have the FTRA, and while it doesn't run any hotter according to the gauge, who knows what tmep it's actually running at.

Also, I noticed zero gains from it, whether it be at the track or mpg.

In fact, I disabled it at the track once for ***** and giggles, and the run with it disabled was my fastest of the day. I DID run into traction issues as the day got warmer, so that may have been a factor as well.

I want to try again next time I get up to the track, as my car is much more consistant since I can actually launch it now thanks to my Nittos.

Personally, I say just skip this and put the 200 bucks toward a real mod like headers, gears, or a stall converter if you're an auto.

A properly installed well designed ram air is one of the best bang for the buck mods you can do to a car, especially if you have the ac removed and can fit a larger ram air

My MTI lid fit great on my old 98z. I loved that clear lid.
A bigger ram air isnt what you want if your mostly a street car. I tried the bigger ssra and didnt like what it did to the efficiency of my cooling system. Thats why I run the smaller ssra with no ac. Perfect street/strip setup.

You'll have to pry my AC from my cold, dead hands. I'll NEVER own a car without AC, IMO NO WAY is a tenth or two at the track worth losing my AC for.

While I realize a larger RA setup may be more beneficial, I can only speak from my own experience on my otherwise stock setup. Let's just say I'm REALLY glad I bought it used and didn't pay full price for it.

Lol I thought so too till I got a turbo kit that requires deleting the AC Turns out rocking out with the windows down isn't so bad when you can go really fast
