Default Build Ls1, or Start project Engine

After i come back from my first deployment i want to start modding my 98 ws6, my uncle had a 99 with heads, ms4 cam headers fast intake etc the works making 445 at the wheels, but the car was a hassle to drive cause it was so damn loud that itd be annoying to drive everyday, it now has a 413 stroker and its no where near as loud and rowdy sounding but pulls alot harder, which would be the smarter way to go? hop up the ls1 or buy a ls2 or 3

If your budget allows it, a stroker is the way to go. You could do it pretty comfortably with the LS1, though. A moderatly sized cam, good heads, good tune and some decent mufflers and it should be a nice car to drive still.

I was thinking that but i wasnt really sure what route i wanted to go, ive had my eye on a ms4 cam and a fast intake pacesetter headers, and all the other supporting mods to start it out, and buying a 9inch when i come back from bahrain

Sounds like a good start. The key to making that kind of power comfortably will be the heads and the tune. A good set of heads will make a big cam seem more tame and the drivability is all in the tune.

You gotta remember the MS3/4 is a lopey cam! And why not do a forged 347(stock cube), PnP 317 Heads(or aftermarket), A smaller less lopey cam, a stock LS6 Intake and a Truck Manifold Turbo Kit? Will make great power and be a little quieter than something with a MS4.

thought about a tubo enigine, but i like the lopey sond but i dont want it so bad i wont be able to stand it, my uncles 413 sounds way tamer than his ls1 with the ms4 in it but runs 10x better

You can't even tell I've got a MS4 in mine unless you open the cutout! A Hooker Catback will calm the savage beast and get the Noise Police off your *** at the same time. I got a friend with a MS4 with a Loudmouth Exaust and it will rattle the wax out of your ears. I don't ride with him.

hmm first of all, whats your goal for the car? figure out what you want first then decide. if its a DD or a city driven car then id vote for the rebuild with some bold ons and a mid size cam, you wont need more than that anyway. if its a weekend worrier or a track car then engine project is the way to go. good luck anyway
