Default Can anybody tell me the differance between the Ktech rod bolts and the ARP rod bolts?

Whats the differance between the $88 dollar ARP bolts and the $200 dollar ones from Katech? Im putting together a stock bottom end 6.0 with LS3 heads. Shouldnt see over 7000 RPM. What are everyones thoughts on this subject? Thanks Eric L

ARP 8740 bolts, resize the rods, call it done.

Can I get away without resizing the rods seeing how they are capscrew style bolts? I would rather not spend the money on resizing the stock rods if I can avoid it. Thanks, Eric L

The ARP bolts are a few grams off the factory bolt while the Katechs weigh the same (no rebalance needed) IIRC

Maybe. Some people do, some don't. You may be okay if you're using the bushed rods, but the LS1 rods tend to distort the housing bore quite a bit.

I have a 2008 LY6 6.0, would this have the bushed rods?

Leave the rod bolts alone!!!! No need to disturb a perfectly operating bottom end if you're planning on staying sub 7000 RPM. Use the hundred bucks elsewhere IMO

Katech rod bolts are a direct replacement, you don't have to resize the rod with them, As far as how the katechs compare to arp's strength wise, I couldn't tell you, i email'd katech and they told me "we have not researched arp's fasteners so we do not know".

I would also like to know myself how strong the katechs are at their lower torque recommendation and if they are just as strong as the ARP's at the(katech's) lower spec

8740 180,000 yield psi 200,000 psi tensile

ARP2000 180,000 psi yield 220,000 psi tensile

Katech 260,000 yield supposedly unknown tensile
