well i just had my stock 4l80e converter go out. Mine ended up being some kind of bearing or something. I was making a loud squille. I also, noticed that i kinda was slipping up in the higher rpm range during all this.

Torque converters can fail and create several symptoms.... It would be easier to understand what you are experiencing with your car than to try and describe all the converter symptoms to be honest.

Give me an idea why you are asking and I'll let you know what I recommend.

Can a bad converter make a woooshing sound during deacceleration? I ve been hearing that noise. Dont hear it my foot on the gas ( well that could other reasons LOL) Reason I ask is when I did a trans service, I would filled the tranny up took it for short ride, added fluid as needed. At first the sound was gone but as I added more fluild to get to the correct level the sound came back. My one friend ( who bulit the trans some 9yrs ago and 50kmi's) thinks its the rear after I took him for a ride.

Constant slipping in and out of lockup, while cruising around 45 mph? Not shifting to 2nd gear under hard acceleration? Just "putting" around town slowly, everything else shifts o.k. (bone stock 4L60e & converter, out of a 2001 Camaro SS with 6,000 original, hard, miles). Converter issues, or transmission issues? Thanks
