Generation IV Internal Engine - Perfect street-manner cam for a high-comp 416 with L92 heads?

On the way to work yesterday, my car (2005 C6) starts making a loud ticking sound. :-( After determining the ticking sound was coming from the engine I had the car towed to a GM dealership. Driver head was pulled and a lifter from cylinder 3 was the culprit. Looks like the roller portion of the lifter seized? That particular cam lobe is now scarred and the GM tech has advised the cam should be replaced.

If I can get this car running again, I will most likely be parting ways with it. Now that I need to buy a new cam I am thinking it makes sense to go with a perfect-street-manner cam to ease the burden of trying to trade-in / sell a modified car?

Considering the engine details below (and the desire for perfect street manners) would anyone be able to provide some insight as to what sort of cam I should be ordering? Or perhaps suggest a vendor I should call to get this sorted out? With the car in the shop (and me in a rental) I am really hoping to get this sorted out in a short period of time. :-)

LPE has a couple of nice off the shelf grinds depending on how your springs are set up. Very OE manners & I bet they tune by themselves :D

How did your current cam work? The driveabilty with that cam should have been perfect. I would say you can go slightly bigger and still have great street manners.

The current cam worked quite well.

I think an issue with "street manners" is that in many ways it is subjective. I.e. what is considered "perfect" by us (and by "us" I mean enthusiasts) is quite possibly different than what a non-enthusiast would think.

I hear you. The best is when some peeps here throw in a huge cam with tons of overlap and they say it drives like stock:lol: I'm sure some tuners are better than others, but you can only tune so much.
I would probably suggest a 231/239 115+3 for your car.

If you were unhappy with the drivability of that cam on a 117lsa, back the intake duration down to 224 and put it on a 115lsa. 224-234 115.

Just my $.02

I don't have any issues with the cam, but if I am selling the car I might as well do what I can to make the car more like OEM.

I think your cam idea is excellent.

If I place a XER 224/234 115 into a DCR calculator I end up with:
DCR = 8.81

If the LSA is bumped up to 118 I would end up with a 8.56 DCR and overlap would be decreased even more to -7. Your thoughts?

Would a LS7 cam work? I have the same thread posted at CF and some very kind people have offered to provide me with a LS7 cam. I haven't been able to find the 0.006 specs for that cam though. Another forum member figures the resulting DCR for a LS7 cam on my car would be 7.54 (which sounds like it might be too low?).

If you're going to sell it, I'd put in a stock LS7 cam and call it good. The next owner will want to put in their own cam anyway so you might as well have it mild.

If you were to keep it and wanted to give it more stock-like street manners, I'd install a 226/234 .598/.602" 119LSA +2 advance cam. It would make 20 more rwhp than the LS7 cam and have perfectly wonderful street manners.

Awesome advice. Thank you!

Which lobes are those? The closest match I could find were XER lobes?

You will hit the 550rwhp with over 450 rwtq at 4500 rpm
