Should I hit the water box or go around it on nt05 streets?

Default Should I hit the water box or go around it on nt05 streets?

If anyone is running these at the drag track what psi are you running and being nto5 streets instead of nto5r should I avoid the water box or should I warm them up for better traction?

I would do a dry burnout cause you don't need to get crazy on the burnout. Just a puff of smoke then stage. Don't wanna John Force them every time you run or they will be shot within 20 passes.

Start at 20 psi and play with it from there. Every car responds different.

you know the NT05's are a autox/roadx tire with a hard sidewall right?

Dont burn them in the wet box and dont do more then a few seconds just to clean the oils and crap from the tires. otherwise you will have no tires really fast. and like said above start at 20psi and go from there. they might actually like 25psi just gotta play with them, but they are not drag tires.

Yeah I know they are a road tire but they should do alright for the track with what I have. I really should have got nto5r for the track and I will when I wear these out. I figured I wouldn't need to hit the wet box on them but just makeing sure

u shouldn't run treaded tires tires thru the water, the treads drag the water up to the line...

Roll through the water box and get out then heat them bitches up. Roll to stage,light the second beam..Rev to 4000 rpm ,dump the clutch on last yellow light and spray that bitch out the hole. I ran 18 psi on my NTO5Rs..Sorry i got a little excited..

His are the street tires not drag radials. Do not hit the water box.

Go around the water box and back into it, roll out of the wet area then start your burnout. Powerbrake until you see any smoke and roll out. Not using the water is harder on your drivetrain and makes you even more prone to that rear end killing wheel hop.

I always do this. Rolling all the way through the box with street tires up front will drag water up toward the line for you and other drivers to deal with and no one will like you.

Why heat up steet tires? Not gonna benefit any. Just wasting treads on expensive tires. Street tires are meant to stay on the cooler side anyway for long distance driving. Compound will not get sticky like DRs or slicks. If anything, just do fast blip of the gas pedal so get some spin to clean the tires off. Lots of people think they get stickier but all your doing is cleaning the treads from dust and crap when rolling to the staging area.

Definately has helped me, and I had some futuras back in the day on my 5.0 that got tacky when smoked a little.

Its because you got rid of the road grime/ hardened "skin" off the street tires. but smoking street tires is over kill. Just a quick spin maybe 1-2 seconds is enough. You will not benifit in doing a full burnout on street tires. as stated before street tires are made to stay cooler for all the friction of long distance daily driving. Doing full burnouts to "heat" up tires is rquired for DRs or Slicks due to proper compund of rubber that becomes softer and tackier when heated up.

To the op, please go around the water box, not through. All your doing, as has been stated, is dragging water up with your front tires for others to spin on.

Back in and do a burnout if you wish.

I always back in just to get the tires wet, much easier on things. Pull back out of the box with the rears wet on street tires and clean them off real quick.
