yeah im pretty upset. i figured the door would need replacing and possible the panel, how long would this take for a shop to replace/fix? the shop im bringing it to is the same shop my brother and his friends use for their body work/paint. they cant total the car can they?

Well should i just try to replace it without my insurance company?

if they total it you can buy it back, and probably have just enough left over to cover the damage. it will have a salvage title afterward. you may have to get it inspected though. unless it's a rare car it having a salvage title wont be a big deal when you go to sell it if the quality of the repair is good.
just go throw the process of getting est. and talking to the insurance company. just don't let the insurance bully you, it's YOU'RE car.

I assume you are in florida based on your profile. Here is Florida state law on salvage title vehicles:
The title shall be forwarded to the department within 72 hours of the vehicle becoming salvage with an estimate of the cost to repair. If the estimate exceeds 80% of the retail value of the vehicle a certificate of destruction will be issued. This section applies only to vehicles with a value higher than $1500. 319.30(3)(a)
My understanding is that if the damages are 80% or more than retail value of the car you can't keep it, it would have to be destroyed.

So what's the % if they do a total/rebuilt title then?

you should be fine pretty simple fix
its 80% of the value to total it and do you have the info on who hit your car?or did you just walk out and see it?

Came out of store and it was left like that, no note or anything. Funny that I'm the guy that will park in bfe just so this doesn't happen and the one time I park near the store this happens

So what's the % if they do a total/rebuilt title then?
79% or less. And that would probably be a company decision. Here some more state language that would help with that question:
80%. If both the company and owner agree, a vehicle with damages up to 100% can be repaired. If damages exceed 100% and repair is completed, the vehicle's title shall be branded "total loss vehicle". 319.30(3)(a)

A good body shop shoul be able to repair that panel fairly easily... my cousin slid his formula into a pole on that same spot but worse. The worse part of the whole deal is probably gonna be getting all the jams lined up if it effected them. I think it looks worse than it actually is but atleast your getting it fixed. Good luck and I hope it turns out well!

I wrote down the mileage right before I dropped it off, can they drive it if they are only doing body work? I talked to the body guy and he said it's going to be inside the bay most of the time but worried about someone driving it

State Farm has been loyal to me for years. But to be honest, we all know insurance is a scam in the end of the day.
