Default Spec 3+ after 12k miles and track runs(opinions needed)

Dropped the engine and trans to fix a clearance issue on the k-member so I decided to check out clutch (I noticed a slight slip on my last 1/4 pass)

My set up: 400+rwhp LS1, built MN12 T56, Spec 3+(w/shim), remote bleeder, 2002 slave, Ram Adj MC

Here are some pics after 12k street miles and 2 trips to track total of 6-7 passes total with 4-5k clutch dumps and 1.7-1.8 60 foots. Great street manners, no chattering and has only slipped once despite side stepping on slicks.

Thoughts/Recommendations? Is this premature wear with 12k miles and only a handful of passes?

Use a mic to measure it, if it is above .300, i would throw it back in for sure. But for all i know that thing comes .310 new, my Centerforce at .250 started slipping, but i think the nitrous use might have just glazed the hell out of it.

I agree that you should check the thickness of the disc but let me know the thickness before re-installing. The starting thickness on our discs is .350" and anything more than .025" wear will mean that it should be replaced. The wear pattern looks pretty good though you can see that there has been a good amount of hear on the inner portion of the disc. This can result from a lack of complete break-in or slippage as you noted above. At any rate update me on the measured disc thickness and I will be happy to provide further info. Thanks,

The clutch was at about .30-.31 last I removed it(see pics above). Since then I put about 2-3k miles on it or 15-16k miles total). Can't complain with a daily driven clutch that held for 15K + miles and cost under $500 when I bought it.

Now should I swap out the clutch discs by itself and resurface the steel flywheel and pressure plate?

If it was at .300" when you removed it last time then it needed to be replaced then because it was beneath the minimum recommended thickness (see my last response). No worries though...I am happy to help with info! Replacing the disc alone is not always the best idea. This is relative to the flatness of the plate surface. Though a flywheel can be machined it is not recommended that you do the same thing to the plate. If the plate has more then .005" variance in the surface I would buy a new kit. Give me a call and I will be happy to discuss pricing and options with you. Thanks!!
