Tim (Rockit_z28) has been a great customer of ours and I wanted to share with you guys the results of the L99 to LS3 swap we just did on his car.

Run down of the modifications installed by Heintz Racing

Kooks 1 7/8 Headers
Cattd Mid Pipes
Magnaflow Catback
Roto-Fab CAI
Vigilante 3200 Stall
160 T Stat
ATI Underdrive Pulley
Melling Oil Pump
C5R Timing Chain
Comp Trunion Upgrade
HR Custom Camshaft 22x 23x .58x .60x 113+2 LSA
Patroit .650 Valvespring Set
Hardened Pushrods
LPE L99 to LS3 Swap Kit
Stock Compression Ratio
BMR Suspension Components
Tuning Via HP Tuners

Here is a dyno graph of the results. The lowest run is what L99 cars dyno stock on our dyno. The second run is Tims car with just a CAI, Headers, Catback, and Tune. The Third run is all that is listed above. If you take a look out at around 6500, the camshaft picked up the car around 90 RWHP!

Peak Gains with the addition of the cam were +63 RWHP and +20 RWTQ. The torque carrys way farther into the RPM range, and at times picked up around +60 ft lbs.

Just got back from picking up the car or can I now say my new SS Rocket! The car sounds and runs incredible and more in line with what I was expecting this car to be.

The guys at Heintz Racing our incredible. A big thanks to Jeff, Zach and Bob for all their hard work and professionalism. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area looking to get work completed.

I cannot wait to get this beast to the track and see what it does.

Final numbers after some tweaks to the tune and a cooler day were RHWHP = 414 and Torque = 388.

Final quarter mile track numbers for the year were 11.98 @113.59 MPH. The car has more, but needs to lose some weight. :D Car weight = 3,920 fully stock include floor mats and 20" rims on Nitto DRs. This is with less than 4,000 miles on the odometer.

Not to rain on your parade but i was expecting more power and faster times. I put some pacesetter headers, vararam, 165* thermostat and got the camaro tuned and we put down 391 and went 12.2 @113 before the retune.

No rain on my parade. For an L99 car, I picked up close to a 100 HP with my mods. Every dyno is different so I do not go by dyno numbers alone when comparing. Also, the cam is a baby compared to what some people are running these days on LS3s.

Track times are the result of a few things:
1. I am still relearning after being out of the game for almost 10 years. There is some time left in the 60'.
2. I am pushing 4,100 pounds with me in it. No weight modifications and if anything some additional weight has been added.
3. The six speed autos are a PITA. :D

I have compared my track times to some of the other cars. Mod for mod for the most part I am right on par with most 5th gens.

I am happy with it and I know there is more on the table and I just have to find it.

Eliminates the AFM/DOD and changes from a single bolt cam to a three bolt cam.

Dyno's are for tuning, the rwhp numbers they print out can be misleading.

If you broke into the high 11's with just a cam install and some bolt on's you should be very happy with what you got.

Agreed. I do not buy into dyno numbers unless they are off the same dyno and not making the same power as simarily equipped cars.
