Cadillac CTS-V - This morning didn't start out too well....

On the way home from the dealership after getting the airbag seat sensor safety recall done, a car in front of me hit a big piece of metal in the road and flung it right up in to my front end at interstate speeds. It hit so hard I felt a good jolt but hoped it was just a little scratch. 10 minutes later when I got home I saw this:

311766

311767

I guess I'll turn this in on a comp claim and pay the $200 deductible. The headlight alone will be 1k at least and the bumper replace or repair with labor and paint will be close to 2k I bet. SIGH! :(

That blows! Sorry to hear. We get gravel trucks in Chicagoland. Follow too close and you get pelted with ball bearing sized rocks.

Ouch...If you are worried about your insurance rates you could get a headlight used off e-bay for around $200-$300. As far as the bumper, might be able to find one the same color off of a wreck if your patient, but color would be close. Good Luck!

Yeah I'm super happy it didn't hit the windshield... it probably would have come all the way through.

I don't think my rates go up on a comprehensive claim. Back when my aurora was destroyed by a would-be thief, the comprehensive claim didn't raise my rates one dime. Hopefully that will be the case. It sure could have been worse so I guess I should be thankful. I'm a bit grumpy about it because I've already had to do this once before when a neighbors stupid dog ran right out in front of me and cracked the bumper. He didn't pay so I had to out of my pocket. Just to fix a crack and repaint wasn't cheap!

A buddy at work had a piece of a fence post about 18" long get flung up off the interstate and come through the windshield of his IS250.....It went right between the front seats and stuck all the way through the back seat.

No doubt....I showed my dad this pic and was telling him the story about my buddy...He told me a guy he knew was passing one of the DOT tractors that cut the sides of the highway, one of the 12" or so pieces of chain that hang off the bush hog as some sort of guard got caught by the blade and came in through the windshield and hit the dude in the face.....Did so much damage that after about 6 mos in the hospital due to brain damage he was never able to return to work....MAN I never really think about those kinds of things...Bet your ass I will now.

Well insurance approved everything and I bring it in for repairs the day after labor day. Headlight is 995 dollars, brand new front fascia is 721, and with paint/flex/labor the total is $2430ish. I told them to keep the stupid front license plate off the new bumper.... no holes baby! Can't wait to get her fixed.

I hate to say this, but it's a shame you didn't f-up the drivers side headlight, I could use one for my girlfriends car :( And I wouldn't mind taking that one for cheap!

Also, get your parts back, and see if you can't hawk 'em on eBay and make a few bucks off of 'em.
