Default multiple fuel lines...WTF?!

i just had my car at the dealer and the service tech told me my camaro had 3 sets of fuel lines. i understand one is the feed and the other is the return but the third line seems to serve no purpose...it just goes up to the metering block. He said the lines were installed with factory style lines and the job was done very well. does anyone know what if any purpose this would serve? it almost seems like they wanted more fuel to go to the engine but that makes no sense. weird, huh?

All LT1 V8 engines up from 1993 to 1997 have three fuel system lines, a feed, a return and a EVAP vapor return.

All V6 cars through 2001 also have the above three line setup.

Starting in 1998 through 2001, all LS1 V8 engines are a two line system, a feed and a EVAP vapor return.

Your sig and post don't tell us what engine you have. Is your engine a V6?

If your car is an ORIGINAL V8, you'll need to post up some pictures.

"Man this looks like the factory installed it..they even used GM original parts.."

If a GM dealer tech told you that then he needs to be fired..

You've got a 98, it's an oddball of it's own.

It should just be one pressure feed and an EVAP vapor return. Gotta get some pics of the driver's side frame rail and the lines.

The 98's do have a three line feed, return & evap system. The line the tech is talking about is the return.. It runs from the sending unit to the "T" block that feed line runs to as well.

Correct HOWEVER, the OP has given the impression that three lines are run to the engine compartment. The T-block is just in front of the fuel tank in these applications.

1998 F-Body LS1 V-8, 1999 and up are similar:
