Motor Mounts: OEM vs Aftermarket
Hello,
I have a 01 Z06 putting down power in the low 400's. I feel that the engine moves around way too much in the engine bay, and even though it's cammed I feel like the entire car shakes more than it should. I think the stock mounts might be worn.
I realize this has been posted about a lot, but it seems like all the threads become about overly stiff aftermarkets options and weren't really definitive.
I'm looking to keep the car somewhat civil, and having ridden in cars with super stiff/solid mounts it's too crazy for me. Any ideas? Should I go stock, or is there a slightly stiffer than stock aftermarket option? I was thinking of getting a fluid filled stock set from Napa.
Thanks for the help

These are what I used http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PTP-7-512BL/
But I see you have a vette so you will have to look for prothane for your car. That brand is most popular with ls1 f bodies that I know of.

you will get a little more vibration form the poly mounts but not much; but they stop the engine from torquing on you. they will also last a hell of a lot longer than oe mounts, and seeing as you would spend the same amount of money on oe as poly, its just better to go with poly mounts.

I used Prothane mounts, and I did notice a slight vibration addition at anything under 1200 RPM. After that, its as smooth as stock.

OEM are rubber and are glued in place, junk for a V8. HyperFlex poly mounts are bigger and are BOLTED in place. They are a pain in the *** to install but are worth it!! I do not feel any vibration for my mounts. You will need the Clam Shell from you old mounts. Everything Explained.
When doing this you will replace your Transmission mount, keep that rubber.

You don't want the tranny mount to be stiffer than the motor mounts for sure. If that were the case, then the transmission would be the limiting factor as far as movement goes, and when the engine is torquing and the trans is holding it in place instead of the motor mounts, all kinds of things can warp and crack and generally cause a bad day.

I had poly mounts that I hated from the first day that they were installed. Sent a vibration through the car at idle that I couldn't stand. Went back to stock mounts. Headers don't hit but the engine does move around more but I will put up with that over that buzz from the poly.

I used the Prothane tranny mount as well; no ill effects from it. Then again, I'm not on the stock rear end setup either. But I do agree with either:
A) Using same type of mounts between the engine and tranny.
B) Tranny mount to be softer than the engine mounts.
