Default Recommend mufflers for EXTREMELY aggressive sound?

I have an LS2 in a rock buggy I'm almost finished with. It's got 1.75" fabricated headers that go into dual 3.5" tubes out the back, no mufflers. I knew the sound would be extremely aggressive and that is what I wanted. Here is a video of the first start up. The cell phone camera doesn't really capture the sound very well though:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cztmn8IJ3I0

I actually LOVE the sound and at this point am not sure I want to change anything. This rig will never see a street and is for off-road use only. I deliberately erred on the side of too aggressive because in the past everything I have ever tried has erred on the side of too mild and I didn't like it. HOWEVER, it is VERY loud. I told friends during the build that I wanted it to scare women and little children and to sound like it was about to jump up and rip your throat out. I consider that objective met. But it is fairly loud during revs. Probably well into the hearing danger zone and the exhaust does exit right beneath my driver seat. If possible I would like to put some mufflers on that do not change the open-exhaust sound much but just quiets it down a little further into the zone where I don't have to worry too much about permanent hearing loss.

I'm looking for a round muffler that is 3.5 in and out somewhere in the 4 - 6" body dia. range. It has to breath good and not have materials such as fiber glass in it that will brake down over time. I can work with a wide variety of lengths. Does anyone have any recommendations? Sound / video clips would be great if you have them. Thank you.

That's just more complexity than I need. There is never a scenario where I would need or want to be quiet.

The most aggressive mufflers I have found are going to be the chambered style straight through ones. I had the GMMG exhaust on my SS and once I put the current engine in with 12.5:1 compression, headers and no cats it would scare women and children. The HOA fined me until I put quieter exhaust on the car. The only place I know that sells the chambered muffler sections is Stainless Works.

I loved the way the sweet thunders sounded and they dont have any packing material in them

Listen to this sound clip. Its very aggressive in an awesome way. Remember this is with a stock ls1 not cresting maybe 4500 rpm. a worked over motor or larger motor will sound even better.

Open headers first start for a basis of comparison (No more than 2-3000 rpm lots and lots of noise)
http://www.streetfire.net/video/ls1-...9am_186941.htm

Sweet thunders with dual 3" all the way back and an x pipe (rolling into wot and revving it slightly as I drive away)
http://www.streetfire.net/video/ls1-...ive_192118.htm

Just revving to like 3500-4500 rpm

I ended up putting bullets in there as well to actually quiet it down. Sounds perfect to me but its too loud for the street, especially here in quiet new england. DOwn in FL I woulda rocked this on the street no problem, but most people drive camrys up here so they dont understand.

Mad Hammer tubes (AKA the GMMG)

if you contact them directly they will custom build and diameter and length and still a great price and SS to boot!

This^^^ Violators sound amazing. I don't think they go bigger than a 3 inch though. The pypes race pros would be another good option.

burns racing mufflers would probably fit your bill but are $$$

personally i'd toss whatever cheap pair of resonators you could pick up on there if you still want it loud but not as loud.

Does that rev as quick as it sounds like it is?

What is the combo?

Ever thought about single chamber Flowmasters? They aren't quite round but not far off....They won't change the sound much but quiet it some. If you are stuck on a bullet design, a chambered as already mentioned would be your best bet.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, please keep them coming. I've googled videos of many of the suggestions so far and it seems a lot of them "buzz" on the way down from a rev. I don't know if that is actually happening in the video or if it is limitations in the filming camera's microphone. I would be pretty disappointed if my junk buzzed though.

My engine is a stock 2005 LS2 out of an SSR with 23,000 miles on it. All I've done is modified the rails for flow-through. I've never had an LS2 before but it does seem like it revs fast. It is connected to a TH400 but there are no guts in it at the moment. It is just an empty case that I used for mockup during fabrication. I suspect once I attach a torque converter to it it will slow the revs down a bit.

^ This, once you hear them behind a cam you'll never choose another muffler

Same thing as the powersticks, just smaller diameter and polished stainless

I say put another foot or few of 3.5" tubing to point the noise away from the occupants and play beautiful melodies with Your right foot. Use turndowns if You have to.

Im also a big fan of the XR-1's! Bullets will be loud too, just not quite the aggressive note.
