Default Casting Number on right side?

I have an LT1 engine, I removed from my aunts single owner wrecked 96 vette. It is the original engine for the car. It has a casting number of 101253227 located on the right side (passengers) on the flange behind the head. It has a 5.7 stamping on the left side. See my confusion any ideas?

What's confusing? 5.7 is the displacment. Should also have a 374 on both sides of the block. And more numbers in front of passanger side head.

Every LT1 Ive seen have had 5.3 on the side but they have all been Fbody motors.

5.3 where do you get that from? why would they put 5.3 on a 350ci motor? that would be very confusing for someone trying to make sure the engine is original or where it came from. Every lt1 or almost every sbc i have ever seen has displacement on the driver side rear below the head surface area. it also has a little clock look symbol that says when it was made. I be leave below the freeze plug or in between them on both sides is a 327 casting(meaning lt1). Then in front f the passenger side head surface area is an engine code. This can be seen with heads on or off.

Block part # is 10125327, not 101253227. Last 3 digits are in raised numbers on the block. The casting marks above the bellhousing just aft of the driver's side head has the 5.7 you're describing.

374 is the last 3 digits of one of the factory cylinder head castings (10128374).

Default Sorry I Should have been more clear

What I find confusing is that the casting number is on the passengers side instead of the drivers side. I am not an expert by any means but I expected it to be on the drivers side. The shift clock and date code are on the drivers side. As anyone else ever encountered this?

Was the Vette a 6 speed?? IIRC 96 6 speeds had the LT4.

Maybe let me check that casting number again. Was the LT4 a 5.7 also? Sorry for the sarcasm maybe I should just say No it was not a six speed.

Yes the LT4 was a 5.7. If it was an LT4 it would have a red intake manifold
