I seem to recall that you either push it in, or pull it out to reset it. I would try to reset it, and make sure the stem is in the center of its travel (either in or out)....

When mine stopped, it was because the gear on the trip odo shaft had cracked and was spinning on the shaft.

Yeah, that is the exact symptom I had. The extra resistance caused by the gear when it needs to turn over to zero makes the gear spin. I had to take mine apart and epoxy the crack.

At one point my trip said 666 and i got freaked out and started hitting the button till it changed it , lmao. The thing you need while owning an ltx is bad luck..... I have tons of clusters i will pull one apart and take pictures and post them up. Maybe there is an easy fir like Shbox said and glue it or something..

It's probably a result of a bad signal from your opti.

Oh, you knew I would have some pictures.

If you have several clusters, hopefully you have one good, usable gear. You can just snap out the trip odo assy and snap in one with the good gear. The hard part is taking the dash apart.

To repair the gear, you have to slide it off, do your crack repair, let it dry and slide it back on.

damn wish i had known this when i had it all torn apart for my LED conversion! not worth tearing it apart just to fix the trip, i have a gas mileage app that does all the math for me, as long as my odometer keeps working i'm fine haha
