So I am rebuilding a 4L60e for the first time, and am having a clearance issue with the forward clutches. I am measuring about .074 of travel at least. Maybe a little more.

My backing plate is marked 'C'. Is GM the only source for thicker backing plates? Is that the only way to take up some clearance?

Dealer item, if not go to Transtar or Dacco transmission parts.

Try looking up whatever it takes transmissions.....

Whatever it takes seems to have apply plates and pressure plates. I am assuming the pressure plate is also the backing plate.....right?

If so, is there a difference between 700r4 plates and 4l60e plates?

btw, if anyone has a good technique of getting the damn reverse input piston back in the drum, please let me know. ****** won't go in without bending the outer seal. ******* ******
