How long has it done it? Have you made any changes before it happened? Did it start all the sudden? Possibly after a fillup? I would start with throwing away the carb and getting a good Holley for it and check your timing.

ya i just made some changes. heads and intake. im not a fan of edelbrock carbs, its just on my gmc 4x4 so i thought itd be ok for wheeling.timing is about 12-14 with vacuum advance unplugged and plugged

Check for vacuum leaks. A can of carb cleaner will do the trick. Spray it all around the base of the carb and around where the intake bolts to the heads. If idle changes, then that's where your leak is at.

what size engine, Heads? You should have 30-36 total timing with vacuum at 2500rpm. Might have stuck weights, or just need jetting..
