long term reliability of forged ls1 @ 750+whp ??
Did some searching but would like to get some fresh opinions and feedback from those with similar setups.
Right now I have a cam, pushrods, springs ls1, stock internals. Its on e85, turbo 11psi and close to 600whp.
Thinking about forging the ls1 or doing an iron block. Only problem is the car is a rx7 so i'd like to keep it light but I don't have the funds for the ls2 block. Primarily weekend street car and plan to take 4 trips to the drag strip each year.
Assuming the tune is always safe and e85 can the ls1 live at 750-800whp for say 5 years which for me would be around 5000 miles of abuse, 100 drag passes

my old 347 that's still a backup motor is a little $1600 build. Used block, used scat rods, used mahle pistons, used stock crank. It's seen 100's of 800rwhp long pulls on the streets and when we pulled it out for my 408 the bearings looked brand new. It's also seen a few 1100+ dyno pulls. Since you are on e85 you can probably be a little more forgiving with your tuneup if something happens

I ran accross some old posts from some reputable people about ring seal issues around 800whp on the ls1 . Is this a common problem?
We have had problems maintaining ring seal for more than 6 months of street racing/driving with high HP boosted aluminum blocks. You could probably cure some of it with hard block filler on the 3.9 bore blocks. The LS2 block is built stronger in some key area's, but we have not boosted one hard yet.
