LT1 to LS1 T56 swap Anyone know any sites or places I can go to so I can purchase the parts to swap my LT1 T56 to a LS1 T56?? Does anyone have the parts I would need?? Let me know either way as id like to swap mine over ASAP so I might get a month in or driving this year

here's where I got my parts for my conversion:
input shaft from Tick (www.tickshift.com)
input shaft bearing from local parts store ($10)
midplate from txmotorsports.com
bellhousings are on here all the time for sale cheap
just make sure you set proper end play on the shafts when installing the new midplate. but if you are using an existing trans like I did, you can re-use the bearing races and shims from the lt1 midplate. should be good, but still check it. also check the end play with the trans standing vertically. otherwise it will give a false reading. hope this helps, wasn't too bad to do. hardest part was pessing on the new bearing onto the input shaft. this will require an arbor press and some heating of the bearing

I think you are misunderstanding. he has an lt1 t56 and needs to convert it to work behind an ls1. I just did the same and is common practice just for the reason you mentioned, plus they are cheaper. the parts and procedure I listed is everything you'll need to convert the trans. there are many write ups on the rest of the swap

There's zero benefit to the 94-97 LT1 F-body trans compared to the 98-02 LS1 F-body trans; the vast majority is identical and besides the obvious different pieces, the majority of them are identical.
Simply, the hydraulics did poorly and were revised (along w/ the clutch) over the 98-02 production years, which reflected poorly on the trans.

i sold the tranny as i got my full asking price local and am going to pick one up local from a guy who bought it from a person at fuelairspark.com . At least thats what he said and when all is said and done I will save coin doin it this way. I cant complain as its just way easier to do it this way as no one around here really knows or wants to try the swap over
