Cluster swap
My tach is not working in a 99 T/A so I took a cluster out of my friends 2000 T/A to test if cluster i s the problem and the car only cranks and won't start with loaner cluster but it still starts with the broken one. What do I have to do to let it work with loaner cluster.

I took the complete harness out of a 99 and did an LS swap on 95, the engine, interior harness and the bcm and cluster are all original to them selves, I have no Idea if the tach was broken I just finished this swap and started car runs fine except for tach so I was swapping cluster to see if that was the problem but then I ran into the no start with the other cluster,
Also I went to an exhaust shop to get some work done on it yesterday and the car would not start when I went to pull in so I opened the hood and shook wires back by cam sensor and then it started the scanner showed a cam sensor code so maybe I do have a problem in the harness by cam sensor, the sensor is brand new from GM so 'm hoping its fine.

Yeah buddy, that's what I was thinking. Without the proper signal from the cam/crank the PCM will guess and either be right or 180 out. So it will start sometimes, and backfire other times. You have a break in the harness somewhere, or a bad cam position sensor, or a worn out magnet on the cam, or the cam bolts came loose from the sprocket and the cam is walking.
