"I remember taking it to work and wanting to change lanes and all you had to do was just stab the throttle and the thing would *choo-choo* and it would skid over. You didn't have to move the steering wheel, it would just shift lanes. It was wonderful." - Steve Pasteiner

Don't know who Steve Pasteiner is? Good, that's exactly why indy filmmaker Andrew Filippone Jr. has been hard at work on a solo documentary project titled Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary.

The film, still in production, tells the story of the Buick Grand National from the perspective of the designers, enthusiasts and automotive journalists who first reviewed the car. Somewhere between a history lesson and a memorial, Black Air looks to put a personal touch on one of the most improbable cars of our time.

Check the two-minute trailer "Misfit" after the jump and follow the film on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Black-Air-The-Buick-Grand-National-Documentary/199753063411653?sk=wall) for updates.

Sweet!! Looking forward to catching this one day. Would be sweet if they did it for the Sy/Ty's too but they never had as big of a cult following as the GN's did. Wonder if Dutweiller is gonna be in it?

I saw a GN on Pass Time... had a 455 and the guy painted it black and silver. Made me sick.

He needs to include the title of the people being interviewed. I'm a turbo Buick fan and I don't know those people by name.

Love the turbo Regals (GNs/GNXs/T-types), I was so close to buying a GN new back in '87, bought a Camaro IROC-Z28 5.7L instead because I wanted better handling/braking.
Wished I'd gotten (and kept) the GN.

Massive fail. Haha. Just joking. I'm really starting to appreciate the IROCs more these days. The 5.7's would move pretty good too.

I cut up a grand national's headrest to put TVs in it for someone about 10/12 years ago (worked as an audio installer at the time). I knew it was wrong and didn't want to do it, then felt dirty afterwards.

Looking forward to this. My dad had a shop in Plainview, TX back in the early 90's and I remember him helping his friend out with his GN on late summer nights after work.

I was just a kid, but I remember being fascinated by that car for some reason even though I was only 7 or so.

That is a sad, sad story.
