Me vs. a Saleen (year unknown)
So, I was coming home from the movies this evening with my wife (traffic is light to moderate), and we get passed by a Saleen Mustang (I don’t know what year – I’ve included a pic of what its tail looked like) who revs his supercharged motor as he drives by on the right.
At the next light I pull up behind him (the LH lane is already occupied), and when the light turns green we both go and I stay on his tail.
I let up when we reached about 10 over the speed limit and my wife said: “You let him win that one. That was only, what, three quarters throttle?” I said: “Yeah, too much traffic right here – we’ll get him though.”
After shifting thru traffic, 4 lights later, we finally get set up for a race. He looks over at me and then with two fingers, points ahead; I smile, give the thumbs up and then turn my attention to the lights.
On the green we both launch at the same time and his supercharged vehicle gets a tiny bit a head of mine until MY boost really kicks in at about 4k; on the 1-2 shift my car pulls away hard, and in third gear I get about a car and a half ahead of him, so I power down.
My wife laughed and said: “He didn’t even get the chance to think he might win!”
I snickered and said: “He thought he had me – but only for about a quarter second!”
As we both slowed for the next light, I rolled down my window and said: “Turbocharged – 11 lbs of boost.” He said: “Yeah, I saw the sticker! Damm, I gotta’ get rid of this supercharger and get a Turbo!”
As we pulled away (and he turned left), I told my wife: “OK dear, you’ve just been in your first street race!” She laughed again and said: “That was fun!”

The Saleen looks to be a '07-'08. A friend of mine has an '08 with the 465hp.
We've raced a few times and by 110 I'm usually 2 cars ahead.
The gearing sucks with the Saleens. He has a 3.31 rear with a feeble first and second gear ratio. It's also a little on the heavy side(3650lb). I keep telling him he should of bought a Roush.
