Default custom gear indicator question

Hey guys, I'm looking to do a custom center console and a B&M floor shifter. Like some of the newer gm w-bodies (impala, grand prix), I'm not gonna have the gear indicator on the console, I want the digital gear indicator on my gauge cluster to work with the aftermarket shifter. How does it work? The truck is currently column shift

I love the idea, I've always wanted to do the same thing in my 6 speed car. I dont think either are very possible though. At least not in my capacity. 6le would be th first people I would start asking though if its really important to you. They do some cool stuff.

Thanks, I'll check them out. I'm wondering if it's just a sensor on the shifter or if it's in the computer, that controls the indicator. I'll have to ask them.

There is probably a little black box for the gear indicator on the side of the transmission if it is like the 99+ NBS trucks.
