Default winter wheels/tires

hey guys i am going to have to drive my camaro this winter and was looking for some help on what wheels and tires to get? mostly wondering about the wheels, i herd the thinner the wheel the beter. the smallest wheel i can find is 16x8, would this be okay for winter? i also found some 16x7.5 steelies. One last thing i was wondering is there any other car with thinner wheels that i could bolt on my camaro without rubbing issues? thanks guys!

I don't think it matters that much, I run the same wheels all year round. Unless you live somewhere with really bad winters or you have really expensive chrome wheels I wouldn't worry about it.

Ah, that'd be a good reason to switch. I'd just look for some stock 16"s then.

Yeah, I'd go with some stock 16x8's, with a set of the narrowest snow tires you can fit on it. IMO since these are going to be your winter wheels, forget all season, just go with a dedicated winter tire...I'm sure you get plenty of snow in WI, it'll be worth it.

I think I saw somewhere a 235/60/16 makes a decent size snow tire and will fit on 16x8's.

FYI - you're right about the thinner wheels. The thinner wheel is good because it will let you run a narrower tire, which is what you want in the snow. The narrower tire the better in snow.

What did the V6 cars come standard with...I know some of them had steelies with wheelcovers...would those be the 16x7.5"s?

Oh, and I believe S-10 Blazer/pickup wheels will fit. You should prob be able to find a set of 16x7's from one of those.

Get some salad shooters with blizzak's. Throw 100lb of salt/sand in the back and you will be good to go.

Does your car have the TCS?
