It sounds normal to me also. I could be wrong but it seems to do it when you go WOT and suddenly let off the gas. When you did a real good pull to redline through 2 gears it was barely noticeable but when you shifted at 4k and then a quick 2nd gear pull to redline it was pretty loud. You might try adjusting the fuel trims to keep some unburnt fuel out of the exhaust. But the easiest fix is to add catalytic converters to your exhaust....but who wants to do that.

Are you talking about the rasp in between shifts?
This is normal on a car with an ORY without a good Y-merge.
You could either weld in a better Y-merge pipe(search in GENIII external section), or get cats and most of that rasp will be gone.

Thanks guys. I was referring to the popping not the rasp. It still did it when I had my hi-flo cats on but based on the responses I'm guessing I have a crappy Y-merge. Both the cats and the straight pipes are held in by V-Band clamps for easy interchangeability. Should I just have the straight pipes welded in or is there a more secure interchangeable Y-merge solution out there?

Your car sounds good! The popping is found on alot of our cars. Mine when stock it didn't do it. Soon as I put the LM1 it did it alot more than yours. Then I put the ARH with their high flow cats and it's there and I have no problems with it. I thought like you once, about welding the pipes and now I'm glad I didn't. I have the band clamps and they work good. Every year before the start of the summer I just check them all and look for the black exhaust leak and

That is one of the best sounding y pipe systems I've heard. A better Y to cut down the rasp and it would be really awesome
