I currently have some extremely well-worn Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s on my 99 SS (275/35/18s on the front, 295/35/18s out back) mounted on chrome C5 ZO6 wheels. I absolutely love the tires, but H-A-T-E the replacement cost of these things. I was thinking about going a bit smaller on the fronts (255/35s maybe??) but keeping the rears 285s or 295s. I'm not exactly made of money so I need some recommendations for a solid street tire for a reasonable price (no Nittos, please). And yes, I've searched the forum with minimal results. Thanks!

I just bought a set of Falken ZE512's. I am thoroughly happy with them. They do excellent in the rain, they arent the stickiest tires but they do well once heated up, they grip VERY GOOD in the twistys, no road noise, they are a good looking tire, I cant speak for longevity because I've only had them for a few weeks. I would recommend them. I only paid 476$ for all 4 of them (275/40/17 and 245/45/17). I think I got them on sale, because that is awfully cheap for what these tires are.

I've had them in the past on my 2000 SS. They're OK, but I need something better for both wet and dry conditions. They also didn't last very long.

Which Nittos are you referring to? They make a lot of different tires.

You're right. I should have been more specific. I had the 555Rs. I just don't have any use for drag radials now (yet). That said, the Nitto Invo looks interesting...

Drag radials didn't last very long......Shocker. There are lots of quality tires under the price of Goodyear's.

i have some kooks ventus. ive been pretty happy with them had them on for about 6k they grip well wet and dry, look good, and wear has been good so far.

I've got Nitto NT555's on my car and not the 555R's but mine are 275/40/17 all the way around though and mine have lasted a damn long time. I've had them on my car since last year at tax time and I do DD my car. Right now there a little past half tread. I will say between 40-45% of tread left on the tires but I am real picky about checking stuff like that like making sure the air in them doesn't go below a certain number and have my car routinely checked for alignment and stuff like that though.

Best bet is to give us some specifics... What do you want the tire to do for you? what kind of conditions are you going to use it in, what are your expectations for tire life, what kind of pricing do you have in mind? etc........
