3.73s axles and driveshaft help
I would like to rebuild my 10 bolt - I don't do dig racing but i'd like it to be able to handle a good amount of power from a roll. I am trying to be a bit cost effective. Ive been told the weakest links in the rear are the gears themselves and the axles.
I plan on ordering from our sponsor (jawsgear.com), but need help with what model numbers would work for me.
It is a 1999 Camaro Z28, M6 - Has a tsunami cam with intake and boltons.
For gears: http://www.jawsgear.com/Ring_And_Pin...duct_info.html
I don't care for traction control since that thing has never really worked lol
For Axles: http://www.jawsgear.com/Axle_Shafts-...duct_info.html
I don't see a rebuild kit, bolts/shims, etc
ALL help is GREATLY appreciated!

I would think the best you could do for the 10 bolt is a good refresh with better axles - small = weak none the less but if your not doing dig races - a good refresh would be fine. I did it to mine minus the axles and I drag race.

you're changing 3.42s' to 3.73s' ? typically 6 speeds go for the 4.10s'.
there was a discussion that the Moser axles for our cars are now made 'offshore',don't know if that's true, but in this economy, wouldn't doubt it. you'd have to check with Moser. the link you supplied shows a pic of the flange end of the axle,it might not come with installed reluctor rings and you'd have to remove them from your current axles and press them onto the new axles.

Is the reluctor ring pressing a difficult/expensive task if I bring it to a garage you think? I am unfamiliar with everything from the tranny back lol

I personally think the posi units are one of the weakest links in the rear ends. However, I think that doing a complete bearing refresh with a set of performance cut gears (Motive orange box, Richmonds) strengthens the rear considerably. If the posi acts up, you could replace it later, to save some cash up front.

3.90s only come in orange box.
A Motive part number starting with GM means a standard replacement ring and pinion. A part number starting with the letter G only means the performance orange box version. They tend to be about $20 more expensive.

For peace of mind, (hearing both sides of stories through out this forum) I am going to jump on a 3.90 gearset
