I will be getting heads cam and bolt on's and wanted to know how long a stock A4 would hold up with a stall better cooler and a trans go shift kit?
Thanks

It varies ALOT. I have about 29000 on mine now...about 9000 of which is with 423 RWHP. It's still shifts absolutely perfectly (TCI shift kit, cooler, and F-type fluid.)

It's been discussed alot in this forum. See what the search feature turns up.
Basically, it's a fluid originally intended for Ford trannys. It has better friction properties which reduces slippage during shifts which is a good thing when the power gets serious. The effect is kinda like a very mild shift kit.
Some people say it's too abrassive on certain tranny parts (a certain plastic bushing comes to mind) but I've never put 200,000 miles on a tranny to find out nor have I actually heard of anyone running into this problem. A mute point for performance cars, IMO. Some people also say that it doesn't work well with certain aftermarket converter clutches. I've run it with a couple of different types and have never had that proplem.
BTW, "Trick Shift" is basically expensive F-type fluid.

Colonel, is a TransGo shift kit 'required' or 'preferable' when going with a 4000 or more Torque Converter? I'm thinking of getting the one you have SS4000 or higher, but wanted to know how it will affect my daily driving as well as a once a month trip to the track. If it's really jerky I guess would be the word, would a TransGo correct it or am I going about it all the wrong way?

I mean, clean fluid and filter and watch the level real well. They all seem to let go only when the are good and ready, only the trans seems to know.
I have 77xxx miles on my car. I have a Vig 3600 stall(no cooler) Bolt-ons and spray a 150 shot at the track ,also a 100 shot on the street.
I auto-cross with the car and drag race a good half dozen times a year and pull 1.5 60fts on spray(out of the hole). I am going to go through the trans only because i'm changing convertors and it will be sitting there on the ground. It has never shown me any trouble ever.(I guess i have been real lucky) I started spraying the car around 40xxx miles ago too. Good luck!

I use a button to activate it . Also setup a NOS bottle heater with the pressure sensor reading right before the purge solenoid instead of at the bottle .
And the last and best part is the NX remote opener. Let me know when you are ready.

Mines is a 98 TA with 52K miles and 75+ track runs with almost all of them in the 12's with a Yank Y3200 converter. Clean fluid and a tranny cooler go a long way for an A4.

My first stock auto lasted a thousand miles with boltons and a convertor. My second stock one has 40k miles on it now and is doing just fine with boltons and a convertor. I think I was just really unlucky with the first one.
