Thanks guys maybe i could sell my ls1 heads and get a set of ls3 heads for a little more?
Does anyone really even want to buy ls1 heads? and my piston to valve clearance should be fine cus im going with -28cc pistons for about 8.5:1 compression.

If they are revers domed you will still have a raised area around the outer perimiter of the piston. Were they cut for the LS1 head or the LS3 head? If I was you I would still check them. Chances are you are fine, but sure enough if you don't check them Murphy's law will creep in and then.... Check it so you will know you are good. Also if you spected the pistons to make 8.5:1 with the stock LS1 cc head going to the LS3 head will lower it more.
Yes, LS1 heads are still a great peice and wanted all over the place. They are very good for low budget high boost builds. They make great power and can handle more boost then the LS3 L76 head.

I did it... problem is i only dynoed like 420/420 rwhp/rwtq (torquer v3, prc duals on 241 heads, and ls6 intake. PTV is important, but once past that, wont hurt anything.
The springs might be a bit weak from the stock engine so be careful about that.
Id say dont put it together til lyou at least have some l92 heads (which can be had very cheap), and a 230s cam (doesnt have to be anything fancy). that should get you closer to 500 hp and a bit more than 430 tq
and yes, I sold my old topend parts and made about 600. I think for 600+ some change you can actually set up

Don't go with the LS3 or L92 head if you are planing more boost then about 18psi. They have thin decks and will lift at some were right after that power level. If I had to do it over again I would have stuck with my LS1 heads for my turbo. There are alot of people on here that have taken the LS1 head to 24 psi and not had coolant leaking issues, but many have taken the LS3/L92 head over 18 psi and found coolant leaking issues.
Just food for thought.

Ahhh... in that case, yes... Itll work well. I think theres an 851 or something head a lot of people like to use too, dont know the exact number but its lower compression and comparable flow or something, look into it

Nice! So I can just run those bad boys. Well my question has been answered and I'm planning around 20psi of boost. Shooting for 1000whp lol should be able to make it with a 408 and 91mm on that much boost. There's a vid on YouTube of some one making 800whp on 93 octane and 13.5psi with a 408 and 91mm turbo. So I think 20 should get me close lol. Thanks u all.

Uh, 20 will get you there no dought about it. I did 844 on 93 octane, and 17psi, with the came timing advanced 6 degrees too much and a stock intake, with chocking 2.5" cold side piping running from the rear of the car to the front, and a very restrictive POS ebay intercooler. And a little bitty 88mm turbo. With the right setup you will be over 1000.

No I run a 408 with an iron block. I am looking to make 1000+ rwhp/trq on pump gas and 17 psi of boost. I moved the turbo up front and have gotten rid of all the exhaust and intake restrictions I had before.
I have also changed intakes, injectors, and cam timing. Not to mention the new car (the old one was destroyed), the cage, minny tubs, narrowed rear end, and the rest of the $20 to 30 thousand dollar list of blah we have done to it this year.
I get sick every time I try to count the dollars spent since the wreck!
