Man guys so far it's not looking good. I can't get the truck I was going to rent to tow my junk down there. I really don't want my stock bottom end to blow running it out the back door since I've only ran 1/4 mile once. I wanted to tow there so I knew I could get home.

I'm fighting myself right now. I want to go so bad, but if I don't make this I am for sure gonna be at the Shootout, I just wanted to come to LSfest as I heard it's even bigger than the shootout.

fixing to load my car up in a few mins. Waiting on my wife to get off and then we will be on our way. I just hope the 10 bolt holds up for a day or two at least. Never ran quarter mile before so I hope I pass tech

I have triple A and Good Sam, but being 583 miles from home and them only paying the first 40 miles and it being close to 4 dollars a mile after that, I could have a almost built bottom end for that price the tow home would cost.

Chicago drag radial guys should be there pretty early we just need to get to get ice and gas for the generators...

What I hear for drag radial so far... Expecting for six cars the oh boys are sure to roll in tomorrow... We have four poured already. Lmr reportedly hurt their motor sometime in the last 48 hours. Racer chatter at the track is wondering whether the oh boys are still dialing their combos.. Same for mark carlyle.

Joe is running all motor, i see sams trailer but have not talked with anyone over there yet. Not sure on the lashleys anyone know if they are going.

Syf coolray and brian are running, I think tim 99 ws6 is too. Steve hopkins indicated that he is coming. I hope a certain some one goes up to morton grove today and gets some shocks just tell jeff why you need them now :).

I dont have a feel for real street. There was a rumor that lpe hurt the motor for the new white car but I see their big trailer maybe they will comment. I have a feeling this class is wide open.

Also heard heard registration is big this year.

I dont know everybody who is hear and who is going so i will keep updating for those who can't name it. Psj trackside reporter :)

Anthony black drag radial camaro test hit 8.2 146 in the eighth shut it down. Andy lastls1 blew the tires off we are taking power out for the next hot. Mark koehler making his first test hit soon.

I saw Judson run a 8.5@165 in and out of it fighting the track.

Mike Meeks saw another hit, wonky on the brake, but got back in and went 169.

Mark Carlyle AtomicFusion 8.1x@175 I think, like everyone had some problems off the line.

The track was coming around hence Anthony's 7.72 and Andy's 1.27.

They are prepping the track later for quals. All quals start at 7pm, drag radial at7:30PM.

I'll wander by some other cars and see what they are running.

just got here about an hour a go a few cars in the lot at the holiday inn ... I talked to a few guys that went to the track today lots of venders is what they told me. lots of cars .... saturday should be jammed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great weather to nice temps no rain till later and it's just a mist or sprinkle. looks like a good turnout guys...... get down, up or over here ASAP if you are on the fence:nod:

Second time ever on drag strip and had a best time of 11.79 @ 117 or 118 mph with a 1.8x 60, on nitto 555 street tires. I think i made 16 passes trying to hit 120 but no such luck. Oh and i saw a couple pics of my car on lsx tv. COOL!!!

Me and the lady are going to end up staying sat night and attend Sunday as well!

My car was running like shit all day. I had brand new plugs in it and thats the only thing I did since I last ran. Car was running 12.5-13.0 on motor when its a 12.0 car on motor. Put another set of fresh plugs in and it seemed to have fixed the problem. 11.94 @ 112 finally.

Hit it with a 125 shot hoping for 10s but on the run it fell on its face in 3rd gear and went 11.1 @ 119. MPH is low. I looked at the log and for some damn reason my car commanded 14.63 afr in 3rd at WOT!!!! WTF!

Most of the RPM Transmissions crew made it down for the event. I am running LSX Rumble 11.0 index. My first pass of the weekend ended up being an 11.003@124mph with a 1.58 60ft :D Yes 11.003! I was stoked. I have been able to make multiple 11.0 passes today. I am looking forward to tomorrow. Having a blast. Time for bed now. 7am comes too early.

Hey brian we saw your white ss with flames sounds nice. We chicago guys are wiped out calling it a night. We will be at the track early to make some chassis changes to better plant the tires on the black ws 6. Car makes big power but its just figuring out how to consistently put it down.

Well I got 2nd in 11.0 True Street :( My 3 run average was 11.113 (not too bad for a 6 speed C5 lol) to the winning 11.02X. He ran a 10.85 then a few other 11.teen passes and they averaged out in his favor. Oh well, I didn't originally plan on running True Street anyway lol. Had a BLAST tho!

I heard that carlyle had a plug wire off thats why his car had issues during his third qual pass.

Is it me just being at home and not actually being there, but does it seem like a low turnout and/or just not as much action as I thought or cars or record setting times?

I still would of loved to of come and experience and learn and soak up all the things I can lsx, but I think me being at the X275, X275RS, ODR, 6.0, 7.0, and mickey thompson KOTS at Piedmont tonight was just as good. We had a 28 car x275 field, a 22 car x275rs field and a full 16 car odr field along with a 8 car kots field and at least 16 in the 6.0 and 7.0 classes.

We are anticipating eliminations at 10am so will be at the track at our usual 7am. Had hoped to know the ladder tonight but I'll post it up once we have it.

I want to thank the ohio boys and eric at midwest chassis for the help you guys are all great.

Turnout is great fyi I'm just posting on a few classes there are also fifth gen cars in their own class, tin of index cars, true street, auto cross, speed stop challenge, cart show, engine swap challenge, dyno challenge, and even the crazy drifting is kinda cool. Its crowded here boys lol.

Yep, been fighting boost controller issues all weekend and a non-working line lock.

That pass was the final round for the 8.5 tire class. Just a fun ass drivers race. He had me covered until the 330 when I finally got the car hooked up. The tune was just too hot for the 8.5 and i shook the tires in 1st and 2nd pretty bad. At the stripe margin of victory was a .01

We went back to the pits and were wondering what to do next...we really wanted to see if that tune would hold on the 275, so we swapped oh tires, registered for 275 and let it rip. Car hooked great and we got some good data. There's a little left in the tune still and we haven't even cranked on the boost yet. I think we run koolrayz 1st rd tomm. Battle of the two heavyweight cars, haha. I am going to throw every kitchen sink we have in the tune at him! See if the ole' iron 6.0 holds her own against that ERL monster.


Short of being a PITA to get the car to do a burnout everything has been going really well!

Well I got 2nd in 11.0 True Street :( My 3 run average was 11.113 (not too bad for a 6 speed C5 lol) to the winning 11.02X. He ran a 10.85 then a few other 11.teen passes and they averaged out in his favor. Oh well, I didn't originally plan on running True Street anyway lol. Had a BLAST tho!

Is racing starting at scheduled 10?

The SAM car is here. IIRC it went 8.5@165 on Friday. I didn't see it make a full pass yesterday.

Racing is supposed to start at 10, but I'm sitting at home wondering what to do. The cell of showers looks like it's moving out on the radar, but the roads are all wet and I'm not sure when they will get the track ready.

I'll be there in 15 or less Brian, ill post and let you know what is going on.

The DR cars were having a hard time getting down because they were basically over powering the track. The track was PERFECT all weekend long, as I was running consistent 1.24-1.26 60's all weekend long. I've never been down a track so sticky that I was dead hooking the little 275 radial. Had I wanted to chance it, I would of put a larger tuneup in as the track had the bite to take it.

Overall a great weekend was had by all. I vote Tim99WS6 as having the busiest and most crowded pit around...Hahaha

Haha, thanks. By the end of the weekend I was doing my best to just stay out of the way and let them enjoy the moment. We've been struggling along for about 3 years now building the car from scratch and then breaking everything on it. I think Brian and Blue are elected our "PR campaign" for the night life. Those boys are non-stop.


I really had no problem with traction on my 275's either. I lost traction in first round due to the right wheel, no lie, making an entire rotation on the tire. I guess it's time for bead-locks. That would explain the hard right it took on the hit.


Pitting next to the Brian Black group was truly a pleasure. Those guys are top class racers. I still say he needs to bring that car to Valdosta in October to run against my tuner's car in x275 and the rest of the top tier x275 cars!


Ps-->I officially hate:

1) turbo car burnout
2) my non-working line lock
3) my slow responding trans-brake
4) TH400 sprag....never had it after friday. It's the 3rd time this year i've killed one.

All in all, 5.8's aint half bad on a 8.5 tire tuneup with no boost controller and no 2nd gear, haha.

Before the second run the trans and engine were both stable @ 200 and I felt like she could do another 3 laps however I was pooped and ringing wet. Look forward to making another three laps in the shootout. Maybe then someone will get off some cash for it!

High tack on the rim and tire againt the lip will help ALOT to keep the tire from spining on the rim.

Great event, just like last year! Track was good almost all weekend, heck with the forecast, another reason to always head out to the event despite what the weather looks like!! Props to the Beech Bend guys for keeping the track in check. Great to see a couple of guys stepping into Drag Radial and a NEW winner - great final! Still need more cars, without going back and checking, seemed to be about only 6-7 (at best) or so in most the heads up classes. Where was LMR?

SYF (X275). Wow, where was all the internet talkers? This was their race, rules and all (1/8 mile). Brian Black's (smkn95 ta) car looks better in person than on the internet, nice ride for sure, on a rail. I assume it has more in it, he was just racing smart. Hopkins (sp?) made a nice hit 5.15 at one point, struggled with consistency though, nonetheless FAST car. Ray Litz (Koolrayz) made a nice pass in the 5.30's (impressive at his weight) for a street legal car. Nice job Ray.

Real Street was better than the previous ones, the 6-spd entry (primered car) was cool while on the bottle, real nice car too. I saw the 9.20 pass rowing the gears, awesome! The yellow CE/TA (turbo entry) and Paul Falcon's white bird (N20) ran real well, congrats to Paul for the runner up and consistent upper 8's most of the weekend with a #1 qualifier in the 8.70's. The Lingenfelter white '10 Camaro is a beautiful ride and hopefully not a representation of what this class will migrate too. Super top notch car! If it gets figured out, look out! They should step up into DR with that thing and quit monkeying around in RS, alot of car compared to everyone elses, nonetheless great showing for their first outing. How about the Prestons showing up right in the nick of time for the last qualifier Sat afternoon (late) and going to the #2 spot right off the trailer - great race between he and Paul for the last qualifier, a pair of 8.88's. Stepping it up to an 8.50 pass in final was cool after pulling a solid 2 day turnaround putting the car back together before the race.

All motor. 3 cars! Almost looked like Jud (SAM) wasn't going to get it figured out, but then went an 8.30 something. Congrats to Hunneycut for a strong showing, mid 8's all weekend.

Props to Joe/Amber for hauling their N/a monster up from Tx on an open trailer and showing the true spirit of racing all weekend long.

8.50's all weekend long in a N/a car with only two people...and a 3yr old is insane to me.

Man, I'm buzzin' over here after having a the largest size Red Bull.

We had a trailer flat on I65 so lost time and my head hit the pillow at 4:30 and my kids were waking me up at 7AM.

Congrats to Anthony on winning drag radial, most people on the web wouldn't know this, but him and Neil changed the passenger side head gasket on the car Friday morning. Our morale was somber since the car had that problem and we wondered all weekend if the car was gonna push water. Anthony's best at home was a 7.77 and he ran his best of a 7.60 at the LS Fest.

Congrats to Andy starting off with a last year best of 7.91 and getting down to 7.65 in five hits. Andy was fighting traction issues for the last 6-8 weeks and we brought the car down hoping that it could get figured out.

Congrats to Brian Black for having the most dialed in car that I've ever seen. He was gettin it DONE. This made up for last year when he broke first day and ended up just spectating.

Had a great time, lots of people showed to support, back at home now, just got done catchin up on some sleep. Had a small issue with the car all weekend causing it too cut out when shifting into 3rd and also into 4th. Most likely detonation, fixed with some vp 109 from lingenfelter.

Had another issue in the third round with a missed shift causing me too lose, i think its the shifter but who knows. Its was doing the same thing on the i state that morning while i was testing for the other problem.

yeah I was trying, this weekend was the first time for the nitrous, so it was a lot for us to figure out with really only 2 guys working on the car, mostly me on the car, and the tuner on the computer.

Had a blast though, hope to get some stuff figure out with the controller and be a little more of a race for these guys at the shootout.:D and with a T56!!!

And correct John.. The car that wheelied was a TA ws6, there was also two white formys.
I'm pretty sure he broke something because I didn't see the car again after that, not even parked or loaded up.

I ran down the track with that white TA one time and I am so glad that did not happen during our race because if I remember correctly he ran a low 60 to my mid 50's so I would have been right there! Glad no one was hurt, cars can be fixed racers cannot!!

I lived through one of those wheel stands earlier this year. Very glad to see the car stayed right side up!

I was the driver of the white ta. I have a bad oil leak that we think might be either the rear main or a crack in the oilpan. I had madman SYA bars on it so it wasnt too bad. License plate bent in half. Headers are a bit scratched. All in all not too bad, but then we havent dropped the motor out yet. There are quite a few videos on youtube. Look up white2000ta. Here is a normal pic though.

Oh i remember. here is a pic of the bumper. Nobody got hurt except the car, so i'm interested in seeing whatever pics/videos there are. Ive been looking to see what caused it to go so wrong. The nitrous shot was the same as it had been all day. Bottle pressure was up a little bit, and i had about .5lb more air in the rear tires.

I couldn't justify driving that far to race when the payout wasn't worth it. I feel like I won the race out there anyway with Brian Black taking it home. Heck I even had parts on a car in the real street class.

Glad you came to Piedmont, it was awesome seeing you run that 5.01! I really wanted to see you and Chad in the finals though. You and him matching up in the finals was the buzz throughout the pits the whole day. Too bad it didn't go down and the one wheelstanding machine out there, put the bird on the trailer after it wheelstanded 3 times lol. Oh well, you gonna be at civil wars at The Rock?

I would assume you are talking about me or Wayne. I was at a local race less than 2 hours from home and Wayne and Steve were gone to pick up a new car trailer. Anyone who wasn't there.... I was under the impression this race was created for all of the faster heads up 1/8 mile only racers that compete in X275 or who don't fit in any other class. Just a little disappointed in the showing, not really calling out anyone in particular.

I would just like to series grow and thought the promoters hit all the details to make it happen.

I think it was a great race and I would have loved to come out to it. I just couldn't travel that far for that payout. I think all those involved did a great job with the race and I'm sure participation will grow. There is a reason that the yellow bullet race and ducks races are so big and its the big purse. I know a lot of people will go to races like the ls fest to get some publicity and be in the magazines and such and that's great but its not my thing. I know I have not participated in any of the ls races and I'm not taking anything away from anyone who has but 99% of the races I go to I am the only ls car there and I am usually able to run up front and in my opinion that says more for the ls platform than an ls only race. I would like to see more ls cars show up at sgmp next month. In the february race I was the only one in x275, Meeks was only one in no-boost and Dwayne was the only one in outlaw 275 and you would think there would be more ls cars to make a showing at the biggest radial race of the year. The ls fest is still in its early stages and I would like to think that it will continue to get bigger each year but only time will tell.

I came to test to try and fix my electrical problem so at least thats straight. Its a great bunch of folks that run x275 down there with the HED, HRE and Mac Fab crew and we always have a great time with those folks. Yes we are planning on being at Civil Wars. I got to try and keep my title!

I hope we have SYF again next year and a few of the other class-legal cars can come race though I understand that September has a lot of racing going. I know even for me it's quite a thrill to see these cars that we jaw about all year racing each other.

Plus for those who have never been, we have the track to ourselves for three days. It's so awesome!

Well I hope you make it out to Piedmont more often. I am usually the only ls car there unless the Tick guys show up, and there is the odd street car thrown in here and there. I thought it was funny as hell when the announcer(i forget his name) said as you rolled into the water box, well folks this car's got a.....got a.....well I don't know what kind of motor it has in it BUT IT'S FAST! lol not many get to see ls motors day in and day out in x275 or rs and ODR even.

That announcer was a riot... when he wasn't just talking for the sake of talking.
