Exclamation Broken Pushrod

Hey I have a 2000 z28 and recently had a misfire on cylinder 2. So thanks to a buddy we took off the header cover and found out it had after market rocker arms but still had stock springs and pushrods. We found that the pushrod was bent and broken... However we have no clue why this happened. It has a stock cam and when we put a new push rod it worked normally. Any ideas of why it broke?

They bend and break from over rev conditions. So someone probably missed a shift. Change all the pushrods now before another one breaks.

Plus those are probably 1.8 rockers arms which are putting more stress on the valvetrain. You'd also need better valvesprings with those rocker arms (if they are different than 1.7's)

I have the same problem with my 99Z. Did you pull the head or just replace the pushrod and throw it back together and hope for the best? I am thinking of pulling the head just because I am alread this far into it. really dont want to though.

Over revving and lack of spring control. Get some stock rockers back on as well.

Well we ended up replacing all the pushrods and replacing the rocker arms back to stock ones and no problems since!
