Default truck pickup = 1 bolt... fbody pickup = 2 bolts?

guys

got almost done swapping my truck oil pan for a 98-02 fbody pan and i noticed that the truck oil pickup tube has 1 bolt to mount to the oil pump...

whereas the fbody pickup tube looks like it could get 2 bolts to mount to the oil pump.

can you guys tell me if i need 2 bolts or just one?

part b: torque spec still 106 in lbs?

thanks guys!

all the fbody pick up tubes only have 1 10mm bolt attaching it to the oil pump, and a 13mm bolt attaching it with the windage tray.. just be sure to get the o-ring in and make sure it doesnt get pinched installing it.

there is only one bolt for the ls1 oil pickup tube, it looks like they could have used two or the one in an easier to get to location but they didnt. theres only one bolt and its the harder of the two holes to reach if you dont have the oil pan all the way off. and yes 106 inch lbs.

beat me to it!

thanks man!

so the pinching brings up another question.

seems like the windage tray hole on the pickup tube needs to be ovalled out a bit to let the tube sit nice and flush on the tray AND sit nice and flush on the oil pump... if i just sit it on the windage tray, its not flush with the pump...

is that pretty standard procedure?

i tightened the bolt on the pump first to make sure its sealed...

thanks

The stock 1 bolt location is the hole on the right while standing in front of the front end (accessory end) of the engine. Don't know why anyone who has the area open would choose to use only one bolt, but, to each his own.

does anyone make a 2 bolt pick up tube for F-body? I saw a post where a guy welded and extra tab but it seems like an aftermarket company would make one.

Quick Reply: truck pickup = 1 bolt... fbody pickup = 2 bolts?
