Smile 3rd gear downshift issues after rebuild

My car is a 2002 Camaro SS with the T-56. The tranny shifted perfect up until recently when I had a clutch issue.

The clutch issue happened on the highway when I was in the far left lane (70mph) and it got caught halfway up(from getting on it). So clutch went completely out. I was in some heavy traffic and needed to get to 3 lanes to the right to get to the shoulder.

I kept trying to push the clutch the rest of the way down & get it into gear. I ended up doing my best to force it into 3rd before I stopped rolling. 3rd was killed to the point of absolutely no use.

I got a rebuild which included:

1st & 2nd three piece synchronizer rings
3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th carbon kevlar synchronizer rings
front and rear seals
Koyo Premium HI Cap Bearings included:
all main shaft gear bearings
all main shaft bearings & races
all countershaft bearings & races
input pocket bearing and race
snap rings
front bearing preload shims
countershaft preload shims
synchronizer keys/struts
retaining springs
reverse wave washer

Bronze shifter bushing/isolator

Bronze Fork Pad Set of 8

Billet Keys for the 3-4, 5-6 OR Reverse Synchronizer Assembly(I got 3-4)

Billet Keys 1-2

T56 Snap Ring Kit

T56 3-4 Steel Shift Fork W/ Bronze Fork Pads Tremec

A 3rd speed gear

Here is where the issue is. I used to be able to consistently downshift from 6th straight to 3rd with a rev-match at 75mph(no grinds). Now it is impossible after the rebuilld. I rev-match, but get a grind at 3rd while the clutch is still in.

I do know that the factory 3rd gear syncronizer was "reused."

And yes, I have a Tick mc, new clutch, & new slave.

Issue is only with downshift from 6th to 3rd at about 75mph with a rev-match.

Anybody know what's up?

1,200-1,500miles. I put 1,000 on it before I started getting on it.

If this is the case, your clutch may not be fully releasing. Check to see if the car will move in 1st gear on level ground, in a safe area with the clutch in, no brakes, and engine rev'd to 4000-5000rpms.

If you don't move, then something may have gone wrong with the break-in of the new 3rd gear and carbon-fiber blocker ring.

I tried what you said & it moved a hair. But at the same time it is kind of hard to find a perfectly flat place here in TN. I will confirm in a moreso flat area.

It ended up being that there was synthetic tranny fluid in it instead of the conventional gm stuff. Dex 3 was hard to get ahold of, so we went with gm "manual transmission fluid." That's the one for the TR6060. Works well now.

Quinton from Tater Shack Performance hooked me up.

So what brand fluid did you end up using?
