Default 10bolt swap questions - 97 vs 98-02

Might sell my 97 WS6 and get an LS1. My current 10bolt is built for autox and I'd rather use it than tear out my gears/T2R and risk a crap reinstall.

Assuming the 98-02 rear is 3 series, what parts would I need to trasfer to swap the rear ends?

I know the axle shafts are different lengths, but will swapping them affect the gear mesh? I can't press and shim gears myself so that's what I'm trying to avoid.

Yeah, I've done some reading and it doesn't look like a big deal. Just have to make sure it's a 3 series which is fine because I wouldn't want traction control anyway.
