you need the F-body, or Cadillac cts-v oil pan...the truck pan will work but hang low..they make motor mounts & headers for the stock k-member...or you can use a 4.6 mustang k-member..you can also use 351 ford headers & cut the flanges off...I've even heard of f-body headers working with a little modifications...but they make multiple headers for the swap..you'll want an aje cross member..cost around $150

Look on latemodelrestoration.com I'm thinking they offer a cheaper k member with chevy mounts. You can buy it with or without a-arms. Goodluck on your chevystang

Not sure about that, look carefully at what you're getting. When I bought mine (about 10 months ago) summit & jegs sold the bare k-member and the engine mounts had to be purchased separately. I bought mine with the mounts from AJE for a few bucks less than the combined price thru jegs. Aside from that, the guys at AJE were quick to answer my questions and address some concerns over the phone after the sale. If you're gonna go AJE, buy direct.

When you get the k member, make sure to get the spring perches as well. If you plan on keeping stock suspension with stock control arms. You will also have to lengthen your steering shaft about a inch or so The swap is actually fairly easy as far as I have made it. Here are a few pics.

Also, the hookers super comp equal length Shorties for the f body will work for headers if you cut the flange off.

On the steering shafts, the short piece coming through the firewall from the column will move in and out with some force. It is designed to telescope a good bit. I have moved mine out about an inch on one car and had to shorten 1 about 3/4" on another.

You have to pull it out or push it in from under the hood by the firewall. I am referring to the short piece with the bolt hole in it that you slide the steering shaft into. It is way harder to pull it out than pushing it in, but it does move.

I made my own engine mounts using the stock 5.3 mounts and made a tranny crossmember.. all for fitting the engine and tranny with stock k-member.. was really easy and I'm very happy with how it turned out.. and my stock truck oil pan hangs about 2" below the stock k-member.. if you want to stay on a tight budget like me it can be done...
