It's takes too many amps to push an electric blower. Leave that crap to the ricers.

garrett made a prototype turbo charger that used a 50amp motor to "pre-spool" when exhaust valves were not enough. Not sure if it ever made it to production. Generally speaking this application would be a big huffer turbo on a small 4 banger where lag and high boost is a must to reach your goals. Say if you wanted that GT30 to spool at 3000rpm and make 400whp out of your 1.8 litre, it would be a good choice.

electric superchargers are stupid, though , you'd probably suck down any gains due to the amp load on the alternator heh.

I can tell you from certain knowledge that an Eaton M112 SC (stock 03/04 Cobra) at WOT redline is using over 70 hp to make the 8-9 psi boost! Have you ever seen a 70 hp electric motor?! They weigh well (!) over a 1000 pounds. BTW, 70 hp at 12V is something like 4,300 amps! Centrifugals use a little less than positive displacement blowers like the Eaton, but not that much less. One last little factoid, more boost, more hp to run the blower.

Note: there may be some who will argue that the numbers that I just quoted aren't exact, but I guarantee they are in the ballpark.

Bottom Line, electric SC just isn't practical for auto-mo-biles. Hope that clears that up a little.

Regarding the garrett electric "pre-spool" system? I think that design stiffed as soon as turbocharger engineers found that the heat from the turbo charger made the "pre-spooler" operation inefficient and unreliable.

According to the current Garrett website, the "anti-lag" technologies that are operational (at least on advanced technology diesel engines) are the variable geometry turbos.

i had a 100hp electric motor in the back of one of our company trucks sitting on a pallet one day at work when a guy pulled out in front of me. i had to slam the brakes and it slid up and hit the front of the bed so hard i can't believe it diddnt bust into the back seat

a leaf blower does move alot of air for how much it weighs, how many CFM does it push?? someone should put one on a flowbench lol.

maby they should put one of those electric blowers on a car on tuner transformation

You could probably get more horse power out of a well placed sticker.
