Default Is it necessary to replace fluid in an LT1 slave?

The slave cylinder for my LT1 has been sitting doing nothing for 14 years. The rod on the end is a little rusted as well. Is it necessary to change the fluid?

I'm putting in a Spec stage 1 clutch so I was worried that the rust might hamper travel. Thanx

It's always a goods idea to change the fluid if its dirty. There is a pin pressed in that holds the line to the slave. I just remove that let all the fluid drain out then hook the line back up. To bleed it just hold the slave so the rod faces the ground and slowly depress the the by hand till bubbles stop coming out in the reservoir
