Default Wheelie bars or suspension

Guys,

This last weekend at the LSFest I did a pretty good wheel stand. While that is cool to the fans, it did hurt the car a bit. Thank god for madmans save your *** bars, but even they collapsed under the weight of the car. I think they are supposed to do that though. I have a oil leak and a transmission leak at this point and want to avoid that in the future. The car stood on the bumper and turned in the air so shifting to second wasnt an option like it normally is. Here is a video of the runs.

http://youtu.be/GlEomivXzA8

you can see by the first and second run it doesnt always pull the wheelies, but the first pass was at 900psi in the nitrous bottles. I run a 402 spraying a 250 shot out of the hole.

My thought is get wheelie bars and then play with the suspension until i dont need them anymore. I dont know how bad they are to install or who to find to work with them.

Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

Afco shocks in the rear and strange in the front. I think the rear shocks are set at the default settings (which i think is a little soft) the tq arm is adjustable and i think is at -4. I had it weighed and set the instant center right at a chassis shop. i dont know the spring rate, is there a easy way to check that?

Sorry to be so vague, but suspension is a mystery to me.

Thanks guys. I really need to figure out the suspension Wheelies are only fun when you control them.

I found some additional information about the suspension setup.

QA1 springs all around

QA1-14-130 in the back (130 spring rate)
QA1-15fb300 in the front (300 spring rate)

I was on the fence watching that pass what a ride, but could have been bad if the other guy was further down the track. You need to tie the front end down (limit the upward travel of the front end) that will control the wheel stands without the need for wheelie bars.

I talked to madman this morning. He told me how to use the travel limiters to hold the front end down. I had them all the way extended which he thinks was the reason for the wheelstand.

Excellent. I know a few guys using them and they work quite well. Now you'll just have to see how they work for you.

Im going to work with the limiters now that i know how to use them. I do have a progressive controller, but honestly its so problematic i dont use it progressively. The 1100psi was partially because i overheated the bottles in the pits and was rushed to the lanes.

I think the best place to start is changing the limiters, then see how it works. If thats not good enough tighten the front shocks a bit. my qa1s are set at 6 now. i was told start at 6 and work up to 12 if you need to.

Madman has been very helpful in sharing some of this information with me.

Hey I saw you contacted madman already...which is great. But if you still need/want wheelie bars I know Wolfe Racecraft makes them for fbody and for a couple different rear ends. The downside is they are not cheap. I'd do what madman tells you first after reading posts from him before spending money for wheelie bars. Good luck and I'd like to see more vids of your car.
