Default Cam Difference

I was going to get a 224/.581 114 LSA but instead they sent me a 112 LSA. Is there a big difference in those LSA's? TIA

Power will peak at a lower RPM...maybe 200 or so lower than a 114* cam (notice it's not "lower power" ). Idle will be a bit choppier. If you have an A4 car, this may present a problem for you without tuning. What are you running?

i have an A4, and thats what i was worrying about. cause the 114 was supposed to be more A4 friendly, but i have edit so its not that big of a deal for me to tune it up. just have to go now and figure out how im gonna go about tuning it. just wanted to know, so i can look forward to what i have to do to get it perfect. thanks for the reply too

You will probubly have to idle it a little faster than the 114. I'm idling at 850 RPM on my MM6 car with that cam (TR 224/224 112LSA) and it never stalls.

I have mixed feelings. Part of me says keep the 112, it sounds meaner. The other part says send it back because autos are supposed to need 114.

Perhaps someone has used a 112 in an auto and can tell you how it worked out. If you can keep it and it works, it will sound better.

Same cam I have used to pretty good results.(112)

Unless your going for the stealth effect.... you will be fine.

You power will come in sooner so you wont have to rev the motor as high, hey, that a plus! :-)

I originaly wanted a X1 in a 114.. but when all they had in stock was the 112.. I took it. So far I have been happy with it.

I strongly suggest getting the correct part that you ordered.. I would hold off the installation until you had the part that you probably spent a lot of time deciding on..

I know putting in the correct and often recommended cam would be my first priority.

There's too much work to reinstall the correct part if it doesn't work out ..

So my final suggestion..send the part you recieved back and get the one thats best for your car...(especially if its an automatic)

I think getting the part you really wanted is important, but . . . from what I've heard about this particular cam, the 112 or 114 LSA thing doesn't make that much difference. This cam already has a lot of overlap, so 2 degrees of LSA doesn't make as much difference as it could on a smaller cam. Someone correct me if I'm totally wrong here . . . I've listened to sound clips for both cams, and they are indistinguishable to me. Both of them are pretty rough and have a pretty mean lope IMO.
