Default Oem shocks ?

Today i was swaping rear shocks on my 99 t/a , I had bought some used oem shocks with a lot less miles off a 98 t/a and noticed that the lower bolt is thicker and would not fit through the hole on my 99 rear end ... Anybody ran into this problem ? Are the 98s diffrent ?? I almost grab a drill bit and ported the hole bigger, good or bad idea ......???

Better idea -- buy some new shocks -- Koni SAs or SLP Bilsteins... Unless these OEMs are just a band-aid till you can get the new ones...

I never suggest modifying a physical part of the car. It's always best to modify the easily replaceable part, such as the shock. I wouldn't suggest modifying your rearend to fit a used '98 shock. To answer your question, no, I have never heard anything like this. Post up the part number from the shock, please.

No they should be the same. Even 3rd gen shocks fit 4th gen.

Yeah I thought the same that all 3rd and 4th gens be the same but guess not , I mean the shock length is fine and the upper bolt is fine as well but the lower bolt being thicker is the issue ... Part number is (LA 5036260 3507 22166726) Made in France Original de carbon they look original to me ?? What's gets me is that I personally removed these shocks off the 98 TA.

Do yourself a favor and put them in the trash can where they belong. Buy some good shocks, you'll be blown away at the difference they make. Mileage on the stock decarbons are pretty irrelevant, its the way they are valved in the first place thats the problem - they will feel like crap brand new.

I agree. Put back on your OEM 99's and save up for some better shocks. The 98 ones probably won't be much different. Not many OEM shocks have good damping characteristics. Save up for some Bilstiens and consider it done.

If you can't afford it.. just keep the 99 shocks in there.
