For the Detail guys When detailing a car what products and buffing pads do you use? I'm pretty new to it and working on making my truck look new again.
Here is what I'm using and the steps.
1st Step:
3M 05973 Rubbing Compound with the White foam pad 05737
2ND step is with:
3M 05990 Hand glaze with the Black foam Pad 05738
3rd Step:
3M 05996 Machine Polish and I have been wiping it off with a rag
The outcome has been pretty good so far. Some of the deeper scratches I have to hit with 3000 grit sand paper.
What do you use to get all the scratches and swirl marks out of your paint?
What kind of wax do you use?

Usually to get scratches out I go more aggressive with an orange pad and meguirs M105. Then follow up with M205/ white pad.
For light swirls there are many options and it is dependent on the specific paint surface which one will do better. With that being said I usually use Wolfgang products as I find them easy to use and easy to remove.

It is also important to note that you should use the least aggressive method possible to extend the life of the paint's finish. M105/205 is great but it can be overkill and un necessary at times.

I usually start with 3m 6085 and the purple pad. Then i make a second pass with the same 6085 and a white pad to remove holograms and swirls left with the purple pad. Then i finish it off with 3m 6068 and the blue pad. I have used this method on many millwinder/ riddler & concourse show cars and get perfect results everytime. Shoot me a pm if you want to see finished results or have further questions. Btw what rpm you spinning this one on the cleanup pass?

My truck is black so it shows everything. I'm having pretty good results.

haha yea!! No just joking obviously.
Every car is different and requires a different approach. The Meguiars line is amazing and has changed the detailing game a lot. Especially the new Microfiber system and their liquids and how well they finish down. I grab them most of the time but I do vary from time to time depending on the task at hand. Meguiars is my first choice though.

I use mostly Meg's pads, simply because I have for years, and I am pleased with my results.
I use Meg's 105/205 a lot. I also use Menzerna SIP, IP and P0106 a lot.
I have Meg's new MF system sitting on a box, but haven't found time to play with it yet.
Anytime I am looking for a show car finish, I burnish with Menzerna P085RD
Waxes - depends on the customer .. Meg's #16, Chemical Guys 50/50, Natty's Blue, Wet obsession - those are just a few that I use.
While selecting the right product is important, learning how to correctly use the products you select is the most important thing.

He has sample sizes of stuff so you can try it before you grab a 32 oz bottle you don't want or need.
Steve @ ShowroomFX is another great guy to deal with, but I haven't messed around with any of his new products.

I deal with Steve on a regular basis and see him often wether it's exchanging ideas/stories or just to talk about different products. I use various products of his and they have their spot in my arsenal for sure. I for one like his tire dressing a lot. He is a wealth of knowledge and very experienced. Although his mobile days are over, his shop is veryyyyyyyyyyy sweet with the set up he has.
